Liam Rosenior is very close to becoming the new head coach at Chelsea, according to The Athletic. Rosenior has been in London for talks with Chelsea management and owner BlueCo, and the discussions are described as positive.
BlueCo wants a replacement ready
BlueCo wanted Strasbourg to first identify a replacement before releasing Rosenior. A previous three-man roster has now been reduced, and the situation is considered close to being resolved.
Confirms itself
Rosenior is back in Strasbourg and will hold a press conference on Tuesday morning. There he is expected to confirm that he is leaving – and taking over the Chelsea job.
Temporary solution
Rosenior will miss the league match against Fulham on Wednesday. Under-21 coach Calum McFarlane is back in charge after a 1-1 draw away to Manchester City at the weekend. Chelsea are without a permanent manager after Enzo Maresca was sacked last week.
