The 2025 MLS season is drawing to a close, and it could hardly have been written in a better way. Inter Miami CF vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC – two teams that have never before reached the MLS Cup final, but who will now battle it out for the trophy on Saturday, December 6 at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Messi and Miami storm against history
Inter Miami crushed New York City FC 5-1 in the Eastern Conference final to secure the right to host their first MLS Cup final on home soil.
Tadeo Allende scored a hat trick, while Messi provided his seventh assist of the playoffs – and now stands with 13 points in five games. The club has already won both the Leagues Cup (2023) and Supporters' Shield (2024), but now they are one step away from the crown jewel.
A final with a new champion – and a reunion from the Champions Cup
Both teams are facing their first MLS Cup final, and regardless of the outcome, we will have a new champion when the league concludes its 30th season.
This will also be a rematch of this spring's Concacaf Champions Cup, where Vancouver beat Miami 5-1 on aggregate. The question now is: can Messi get revenge – and lift trophy number 47 of his career?
