Image created a storm: Frank strikes back

A seemingly innocent photo before Tottenham's away match against Bournemouth has sparked a backlash on social media, with Thomas Frank pictured holding a cup bearing the Arsenal logo.

The speculation was not long in coming – but after the match, the Tottenham coach hit back hard.

– It is extremely stupid to think that I would deliberately use an Arsenal cup, Frank said at the press conference.

– Leave the previous layer behind

Frank explained that Arsenal were the previous away team at the stadium and that the cup was left in the dressing room. He simply had an espresso before the match, as he always does.

– It's actually a bit sad that I even have to answer questions about this. Then we're headed in the wrong direction, he said.

Loss and increasing noise

The case comes at a time when Tottenham Hotspur are struggling in their sporting career. The team lost 3-2 to AFC Bournemouth and are still without a win in 2026.

Spurs have only won two of their last twelve league games and are down to 14th place in the Premier League – which means that even small details about the club are blown up.
