Saturday night sees a great matchup in MLS between two of the league's most talked-about teams - each in their own way. On one side we have a structured, hard-working Minnesota United, who are constantly picking up points with low risk and solid defensive organization.
On the other side come the superstars from South Florida - Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and the rest of Inter Miami, who always make headlines, but perhaps a little less three-pointers lately.

This is a classic meeting between glam and foundation, and it is precisely in such battles that we often find value – not necessarily in who wins, but how the battle is played.

Minnesota: Safe settings and strong home habits

Minnesota has taken step by step this season and established itself as a team to be reckoned with in the Western Conference. They are safely in the top four, and at home at Allianz Field they have created a small fortress.

With Dayne St. Clair between the posts – who incidentally leads MLS in the number of clean sheets – and a disciplined defense in front of them, they have conceded fewer than one goal on average per game.

In addition, they have shown a clear strategy against teams in possession: stay compact, cover gaps and focus on counterattacks. It works – and it often results in corner bonanzas the other way.

Inter Miami: Corner machine in star costume

Inter Miami remains a team everyone is talking about – and for good reason. Messi, Suárez, Busquets and Alba have raised the club's profile to a new level, but results have been mixed.

After a solid start to the season, Miami has only won four of their last nine, and especially away they have struggled to dominate matches as expected.

Yet there is one thing they do consistently: create corners. Much of Miami's offensive play is done wide, especially when the middle is shut down as it often does against teams like Minnesota.

In recent games they have produced 5, 7, 9 and 6 corners – and the pattern is clear. Against low-lying teams there will be crosses, clearances and set pieces. And that's where we come in.

The corner kick – our way into the match

We believe in a game where Inter Miami controls the ball, while Minnesota controls space. It's a classic setup for lots of corners for the away team.

Minnesota has conceded 5+ corners in 7 of their last 9 matches, and Inter Miami has gone over 4.5 corners in 4 of their last 5 MLS matches.

History also supports this picture: When the teams met in 2022, Miami won the cornerback statistics and the game. They don't necessarily have to win here - they just have to try and Minnesota forces them to the edges.
