Analysis Information
We're going to California and an LA Galaxy team that may not have delivered results – but definitely delivers intensity. It's been a tough season for the Galaxy, but one thing no one can take away from them: they attack, attack and attack. It doesn't always lead to goals, but it almost always leads to corners. The Vancouver Whitecaps, on the other hand, are one of the league's most unpredictable teams, with an offensive style of play that both creates and allows chances. This lends itself to a fast-paced game, lots of crosses and frequent interruptions. Perfect for those of us who have a penchant for corner flags and overplay.
LA Galaxy – Miserable season, but full throttle ahead
The Galaxy have had a deplorable season in terms of results, and they are still struggling to find stability at both ends of the pitch. But one thing they do consistently: they try. The team pumps in crosses, shoots from distance, and forces saves and blocks – all of which contribute to the corner statistics. They have produced over 4.5 corners in 8 of their last 10 games, and at home at Dignity Health Sports Park they have a clear pattern: full throttle from the start, especially in the first half.
Galaxy average 5.2 corners per game and have game patterns that almost invite corners – often both ways. The fact that they also concede a lot also means that their opponents get their chances in the opposite direction.
Vancouver Whitecaps – Entertaining but unstable
The Whitecaps have had a slightly better season, and even though there are long stretches between big games, it is always entertaining when they play. They create chances, but also give up big spaces. Vancouver averages over 6 corners themselves per game, and their games generate well over 10 corners on average in total. They are one of the most corner-strong teams in MLS, both offensively and defensively.
In addition, they have conceded goals in 8 of their last 10 matches, which often leads to rushing and more offensive pressure and, yes, more corners.
Expected match picture
I expect an LA Galaxy team that tries to take the initiative from the start, especially at home in front of their own fans. They will press high, force set pieces and create corners, but at the same time be vulnerable to counterattacks from a quick Vancouver team. With two teams that create and concede a lot, and who each have a high corner production, this is set to be a game with a high tempo and many finishing attempts. That adds value in both of our games.
Bet suggestions
MLS at 04:30: LA Galaxy – Vancouver Whitecaps: Over 4.5 corners Galaxy (1.61)
Over 5.5 corners to Galaxy (2.08) can certainly be considered for those who want slightly higher odds, but it is of course also higher risk. Therefore, I have chosen to take a safer line with over 4.5 as the main bet. The main goal is to land the game, then you can build on for those who want to chase more.
Alternative game, a bit riskier game:
MLS at 04:30: LA Galaxy – Vancouver Whitecaps: Over 10.5 corners in the match (1.95)
