Analysis Information
Last weekend, everything was in place when we scored both the main game and the long shot in Atlanta – and yes, Latte Lath delivered again! Now we turn our attention to New York City FC, who come to Mercedes-Benz Stadium with one of the thinnest away records of the year. For us, it's now about building on what we've already seen: Atlanta is starting to wake up.
Atlanta United: Latte with extra foam on top again?
Ronny Deila's men haven't been rock solid, but they've been entertaining – and they're scoring goals. Two goals away to Cincinnati last time out, and that after coming back in the final minutes. The main man? Emmanuel Latte Lath, of course. He now has four goals in five games and seems to be exactly the spearhead Atlanta has needed.
Atlanta has been inconsistent in the past, but at home in Georgia they always have something extra to offer. They have scored in every home game so far and have been involved in games with a lot of goals. In the previous analysis we were clear that Atlanta both scores and concedes – and it was a full house. This team invites a circus, and we will not be disappointed this time either.
New York City FC: Tight at the back, but no momentum going forward
While Atlanta is in action, things are quieter in the New York camp. NYCFC recently played an incredible 0-0 against Columbus without registering a single shot on target. Two straight away games without a goal speak for themselves. But even though they are struggling going forward, they have managed to keep the games even – and that sets the stage for another intense duel.
However: NYCFC now faces an Atlanta team that is finding its rhythm. And if things get going again offensively, it's hard to imagine the away team keeping a clean sheet here. At the same time, they have had a tendency to sneak in a goal or two, and that's enough to get us on the both-team scoring train again.
Conclusion: There will be goals. The only question is how many.
We're building on Atlanta as a team you'd rather not play 0-0 games with. Latte Lath is red-hot, and NYCFC is struggling with both creativity and away stats. But at the same time, they can take one chance - and that's often enough in MLS. This is a game where both teams can find the back of the net, but it's Atlanta who has the stronger cards.
