The options are many, and if van Dijk and the rest of the wallkeepers at the back are unable to stop the enemy from penetrating, we will just have to continue playing on goal both ways.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton follow closest. The first two have started as one might expect, while Tottenham and Everton look somewhat better. The two Manchester teams are struggling on each side. We have paid some attention to United, and it is difficult to bet on, or against, this team. We are trying to look for a trend here too, and perhaps especially in the direction of the newly composed attacking line. In theory, there should be goals in these guys, and in the short term perhaps especially Cunha. We will see how Amorim's game will develop, and how many chances you actually get. The light blues in the same city are out cycling. The loss at home to Spurs was a real blow, and here our analysis went straight out the window. We ended up thinking that this was a work accident, and that Brighton should get revenge in the following match. They did not. Ever-young Milner punished old teammates from the chalk mark, and if it doesn't burn under Pep's feet, it is smoldering a little. Six points behind Liverpool after three games played is untenable. We are not confident in betting on City as of now, and choose to be cautious until we see evidence of improvement. Alternatively, one can speculate that the opponent will find their way to the net.
Midfield: Newcastle Disappoints, Everton Surprises
West Ham, Newcastle, Villa and Wolves have all had a poor start. Newcastle and Villa in particular were expected to be much higher. But what can you do when your biggest player is out and all the focus is on something that is not on the pitch? Newcastle will come, we are sure of that. And not only will the points come, so will the goals. Wissa and Woltemade have signed, and Isak can be forgotten. Wissa is a capable Premier League striker, and together with Gordon, Murphy, Elanga and Barnes, Howe now has a few options. As soon as Newcastle find some peace of mind, we will look for goals here. And I wonder if Villa can also come to life? Both Elliott and Sancho have arrived, and the choices will make the team a little more unpredictable. It may seem as if Watkins needs some new impulses around him. They are coming now.
