Women – Mizuno League February 28

Volda – TIF Viking

Match time 17:00

Volda is coming off a 1–3 loss at home to Randaberg after winning the first set 25–21. Theoretically, Volda could still be relegated, but that is unlikely to happen considering that Volda has played two fewer games than NTNUI, who are in last place with 6 points.

The question for Volda is whether they can make it to the playoffs. There are 5 points up for a playoff spot, which Oslo Volley currently has with 12 games played, while Volda has 11 games played. The opportunity is there for Volda, but the chance decreases with each series round that is played.

TIF Viking is in third place with 25 points, and is only three points ahead of Koll, who is currently at the top of the table in the Mizuno League for women. This means that TIF Viking has it in their own hands with a view to winning this year's Mizuno League. This weekend will therefore be very crucial, since they will meet Førde away on Sunday after this match on Saturday.

We have seen a bit more varied performances than last season. They also showed that in the last home match against Volda, where they won the first set very comfortably 25–13, but lost the second set 16–25. The only thing that can stop TIF Viking is their own performances.

Match analysis

Can Volda get some points from this weekend's home game against TIF Viking? Volda needs that to make it to the playoffs. Or will TIF Viking get all the points in the battle for the league championship in the Mizuno League?

Viking will likely push hard from the start with aggressive serving and a high tempo in the attacking game, while also wanting to set the standard early.

For Volda it's about keeping their shoulders down, playing their own game without pressure, trusting their teammates and taking advantage of the opportunities that arise. They have previously shown that they can challenge strong teams when they get the flow of the game, and I think they will get their chances in this match as well.

Still, I think in the end it will only take one set for Volda against a TIF Viking team chasing the 2025–2026 Mizuno League championship.

Prediction: TIF Viking wins 3–1

Men - Mizuno League 28 February

Forde – BK Tromsø

Match time 16:00

The battle for the Mizuno League championship is at stake when the cup finalists meet this weekend. The winner of this match will get a hand on the Mizuno League trophy, making this the most exciting match to follow in Norwegian volleyball this weekend.

Two weeks ago, Førde lost at home to Koll 1–3, which meant they lost first place to BK Tromsø. Førde is now one point behind BK Tromsø when both teams have four games left in the Mizuno League.

Otherwise, Førde has won four out of five home games and almost has to win at home against BK Tromsø to win this year's Mizuno League.

So far this season, BK Tromsø have only lost one match, and that was in the opening match at home against TIF Viking. It was a 1–3 loss after four even sets. Since then, BK Tromsø have not looked back and are said to be aiming to win everything in Norway this season. It remains to be seen whether they can carry the performances they have shown so far in 2026 into their western tour this weekend, especially considering that they will also face TIF Viking on Sunday.

Match analysis

Everything is set for a close and dramatic match in Førde, where individual performances and small margins on crucial balls can determine who gets an edge in the battle for the Mizuno League trophy. We could also get a five-setter, like we did in Tromsøhallen at the start of the season, where Førde had three match points, but still lost the match 2–3 against BK Tromsø.

Prediction: BK Tromsø wins 3–2

Women – Mizuno League March 1

Oslo Volley – Øksil

Match time 12:00

After a long period of losses for Oslo Volley, they finally won two weeks ago against TVN. This means that the playoffs are looking bright for Oslo Volley, and they can go into the match against Øksil with their shoulders down and their focus on their performances towards the playoffs. With three home games left in the Mizuno League, one can hope that they will show their best side.

After four home games in 2026, Øksil will travel again. They hope to avoid the travel problems they had at the end of 2025. Øksil enters the match knowing that they are assured of a playoff spot, but they also have no chance of finishing in the top two to avoid the quarterfinals. They therefore also enter the match with a focus on finding form before the playoffs.

Match analysis

What can we expect when one team is guaranteed a playoff spot, while the other team still needs points to be completely safe? I think we will see an Oslo Volley team that goes all out to secure the last points needed. We will probably have an even match where the team's best point picker can decide in a fifth set.

Prediction: Axeman wins 3–2

Førde – TIF Viking – the battle for the league championship in the Mizuno League women's side

Match time 16:00

Førde are in second place in the Mizuno League before this round, with TIF Viking close behind. After the loss to Øksil away, they have won two home games comfortably against Koll and Randaberg (both 3–0). They therefore enter this match with great confidence and the home crowd behind them.

TIF Viking plays a match on Saturday against Volda, a match they should win, but they have shown some signs of weakness and can use a lot of energy. This can lead to heavy legs after both match and travel stress, which could have a negative impact in this top match.

Match analysis

The teams have already met twice this season. Førde won the semi-final in the cup 3–1, while TIF Viking won 3–1 in the Mizuno League. I expect a top match with even sets, small margins and several strong defensive performances that can turn the momentum of the match.

Førde has a home field advantage and the fact that TIF Viking has a game in hand against Volda. Therefore, I think Førde has that little extra on Sunday.

Prediction: Førde wins 3–2

Men - Mizuno League 1 March

TIF Viking – BK Tromsø

Match time 1:00 PM

TIF Viking took six points last weekend after the meetings with NTNUI and the postponed match against OSI, and are thus qualified for the playoff quarterfinals. However, they are a little too far behind to fight for a top two spot.

BK Tromsø are coming off a game against Førde on Saturday, and regardless of the result, this game will be of great importance for the Mizuno League this season. There is also reason to believe that BK Tromsø are looking for revenge after the loss against TIF Viking earlier in the season in Tromsø.

Match analysis

I think we will have an even match considering that BK Tromsø has already played a match before they meet TIF Viking in Bergen on Sunday, March 1. The difference lies particularly in the stability and ability to decide even sets, which gives Tromsø a clear advantage going into the match and will probably be decisive.

Prediction: BK Tromsø wins 3-1
