Tottenham–Everton
Tottenham play the most important game of the season at home against Everton. Spurs can still be relegated from the Premier League, which is almost unreal to think about considering the club's size, stadium and finances. After the loss to Chelsea, Tottenham are only two points ahead of West Ham United before the last round of the league. The math is simple. If Spurs lose at the same time as West Ham beat Leeds, then Tottenham will be relegated. Spurs' form has been miserable for a long time, and the mental pressure ahead of this game is enormous. Everton have less to play for in terms of the table, but will enjoy the role of potential executioners. This will probably be one of the most nervous games the Premier League has seen for many years, and the nerves of the white-clad team will probably be on the outside of their shirts.
West Ham United - Leeds United
West Ham United must win at home against Leeds United and at the same time hope for help from Everton against Tottenham. This makes this an extreme match psychologically for West Ham. They know that nothing but victory is good enough, and preferably with many goals. The audience will follow the Spurs match constantly throughout the match. Since Leeds have nothing to play for, they can therefore play with more freedom and low shoulders, which often makes such teams dangerous in the last round of the league. West Ham still comes into the match with more desperation, more intensity and far greater motivation. If Everton scores against Tottenham at the same time as West Ham is leading, this could develop into complete chaos at both the London Stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Burnley – Wolverhampton
Burnley and Wolverhampton are both already relegated, so this will be a battle for who comes last, and the pride of the clubs. Burnley have shown more attacking intent in recent weeks, while Wolves have fallen apart significantly throughout the spring and come into the final round in poor form. When the pressure is off in such games, they often open up more than expected, and this could be an entertaining finish for two teams who are already looking forward to the Championship next season.
Brighton - Manchester United
Brighton enter the final round of the league with the opportunity to secure European play next season. Brighton have been among the league's most entertaining teams this spring, and at home on the south coast they have shown a high tempo and aggressive pressing game that has caused problems for most opponents. Manchester United, for their part, have practically secured Champions League play, but want to end the season with a strong performance before the summer. United have been more consistent throughout the spring, but have still struggled defensively on the road. Brighton seem to come into the match with the most energy and motivation, while United have greater individual quality.
Sunderland–Chelsea
Chelsea are keeping their European hopes alive after a crucial win against Tottenham last time out. The season has been chaotic for Chelsea, but they can still end on a positive note if results go their way. Sunderland have already delivered a respectable season since promotion and are playing without the pressure. Chelsea are difficult to fully rely on in terms of form, but the win against Spurs may have given the team the necessary confidence heading into the final round of the league.
Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth
Nottingham Forest are largely safe before the final round, while AFC Bournemouth still have the hope of European play alive. Bournemouth have been one of the big positive surprises of the spring and are playing with great offensive energy and confidence. Forest are physically strong at home at the City Ground, but Bournemouth seem to come into the match in far better shape and with more to play for.
Fulham – Newcastle United
Fulham FC and Newcastle United find themselves in no man's land heading into the final round. Fulham have had a solid season overall but have lost some steam towards the end, while Newcastle have been more inconsistent than expected throughout much of the spring. Neither team is directly fighting for Europe or relegation, which often makes such matches more open and entertaining. Newcastle still have the highest quality of top-flight football, but Fulham at home at Craven Cottage are always difficult to control.
Liverpool–Brentford
Liverpool FC still have a lot to play for in the battle for the Champions League places. At Anfield, high intensity is expected from the first minute, especially because Liverpool know that a weak finish could ruin much of the season, and the risk that Arne Slot will not be in charge in August. Brentford have once again impressed with their structure and efficiency, and can still dream of European play depending on other results.
Manchester City - Aston Villa
Manchester City lost the league title to Arsenal, but are still looking to finish the season strong in front of their home fans. This will be Pep Guardiola's last game for City, after 593 games as manager. Will the boys give the Spaniard a little extra? Villa have been one of the most impressive offensive teams of the spring, but face perhaps the league's most difficult away game. City have been a little more inconsistent than usual this season, but at home at the Etihad Stadium they are still extremely strong. On paper, this should be one of the best football matches of the round in terms of quality.
Crystal Palace–Arsenal
Arsenal are already crowned league champions after City messed it up in the previous match, and the question heading into this match is who will rotate the most in the team? Both have a final to play next week. Crystal Palace are already in the Conference League final three days after this match, and Arsenal play the Champions League final on Saturday, 6 days after. Neither team will likely suffer any unnecessary injuries or wear and tear, so I think this could be a boring match, and maybe time for underplay.
