Betting competition

The most important thing for us is to beat the bookies. That's our goal and our purpose in life. But most of us are built to want to be the best. Always. That's why we get along so well in here. That's also the driving force behind 90minutefamily; winning, knowing more, being right and getting rewarded for it. We're simple like that. But life is more fun for those of us who like to compete.

90minutefamily launch betting competition

And that's exactly why we've prepared a betting competition where we'll choose the best betting tipster among our many followers, starting on 01.08.2025. It will require little effort, the rules are simple, but the entertainment value will be great. All we require is an odds tip and a short justification.

In addition, we want to forge even stronger bonds between us in the editorial team and those of you who visit us daily. That was one of the many reasons why 90minutefamily saw the light of day, back in 2023; to be a counterbalance to all the cowboys out there who didn't relate to their followers. They were loud when things were going well, but turned a deaf ear when things weren't going well. That's not how we want to appear. That's why we follow up on all our results right after the game, we're close to our followers in Discord, and that's exactly why we put our heads on the chopping block and participate in the competition on an equal footing with you.

Who can win on a rainy day in Stoke?

Which tactic do you choose? Do you go for a consistent hit rate with safe odds, or do you shoot for the stars? Are you happy with holding on to your spot, or do you go for promotion, even though you know it could lead to relegation? Here you have to be prepared to adjust your tactics along the way, as the conditions are constantly changing.

Because we have created a league system where the best compete against each other in a league we have called the “Champions League”. If you are relegated from there, you are relegated to the “Premier League”. And if you are unlucky, the “Championship”, “League One”, “League Two” and maybe even the “National League” await. But who will want to be there?

Where you are placed depends on when you sign up. And if you come after the competition has started, you will be placed at the bottom. And last but not least; if you enter the competition in the middle of a "season" (four weeks), you will not only end up at the bottom, but you will also get fewer counting rounds than the others. But that's no worse than the fact that you can compete on an equal footing with the others next season, so don't let that stop you from joining.

One season = four weeks

In our betting competition, we measure everything. And the smallest thing can cost you promotion, or send you down the division system. Because after four weeks, the person with the highest hit percentage will be promoted. While those with the lowest hit percentage will be relegated from the division above. And if the hit percentage is equal, the average odds will be decisive.

Naturally, we only accept one entry per participant, per week. And since we believe that thorough preparation is the way to the goal, we expect a short justification along with the tip. It doesn't have to be long, but if it doesn't include a small mini-analysis that says something about why this is a good game, then the competition entry will not be approved.

But you can choose to bet from Monday to Sunday, as long as the match is completed by 23:59 on Sunday. Because that's when we update the tables. And after four weeks we carry out the promotions and relegations, before starting again, with a clean slate.

Go for gold

When I play FM I always try to take Aldershot from the National League to the Champions League. It often ends up with me getting fired before I get to the Championship, but I try anyway. Every year. Just as naive and historyless as the year before. But maybe you can do what I never did? Namely go all the way from the National League to the Champions League?

We think this will be a lot of fun. And not least; a competition that will connect us writers even closer to our followers. And even more importantly; we know there is an extremely high level of competence among all of you who visit us daily, and through this competition you can also show what lives inside you. Because even though the tips are competition contributions, a means to reach a higher goal, the tips will also be an inspiration for others who want to place a winning coupon.

But we have to have some rules. And we'll list them all at the bottom of the article. But one rule needs a little more space, and that's the rule that prohibits odds builders. But not everything is illegal. We allow ready-made combinations that can be found at most bookmakers. The most common is "over/under 2.5 + both teams to score". It's in. The same is the number of goals + marking. But it stops there. We don't allow marking + goals + cards + corners etc. It gets a bit violent, and it gets hard for people to follow, as many of us play at bookmakers without bet builders.

Play by the rules

It should be easy to participate in our competition, but so that we who will moderate everything can avoid too much work, we have set some simple rules. And entries that do not follow these rules will not be approved competition entries. And a blank round can quickly cost you promotion, or even worse; send you down a division. Because remember; the season is short. But first, let's say a few words about how to submit your entries;

To participate in our competition, you must be a member of our Discord server. There are many reasons to join there, as each sport has its own channel and moderator, and all live bets and tips go there first. But it is also where you submit your competition entries. In our server, which you can join by clicking here , you will see a channel called "Tippekonkurranse-discussion". Here we can discuss each other's tips, as well as chat during the matches. NB! Entries that are posted are not included in the competition.

But just below you will see a channel called "Betting Contest Submissions". This is where you will post your tip. And it is very important that this channel is kept free from other chatter. If there is a lot of other things in this channel, competition submissions may go under our radar. But once one of our moderators has given your tip a thumbs up, you can relax that your submission has been received and approved.

Finally, we can briefly say something about how this will be presented on the website. Because when you have posted your contribution, including a short justification for the choice, in the correct Discord channel, we will move the tip over to the website. There you will see a new tab called "Betting Competition". Inside there, all the games will be chronologically listed in an odds list, which is continuously updated. And if you click on the various contributions, you will be able to read the justifications for the tip. And below the odds list, the updated tables will be located. A mecca for all sports fans, in other words.
