We have therefore decided to have an internal vote on which two we would put in a double. And the result will from now on be published in a column we have called "The Writers' Weekend Double". Enjoy.
Valerenga – Fredrikstad
Justification:
Vålerenga has been very on and off this season, and you don't really know where this team is. In the first five home games of the season, Vålerenga has had an average of 4.80 corners against them (6-5-6-0-7) and on the away field they have had an average of 5.57 corners against them (9-6-6-4-5-5-4). This means that in 11 out of 12 games they have had over 3.5 corners against them.
Fredrikstad, on the other hand, started the season well, but has lost some momentum lately. FFK has an average of 5.6 corners on the road (6-10-3-3-6). I think this will be a fairly even match, and I think there may be some counterattacks and shooting opportunities. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot of corners in this match.

San Diego FC - Houston Dynamo
San Diego is doing what they have done all season: going straight for their opponents' throats. With their offensive drive, the crowd behind them and their form intact, they should create enough to find the back of the net at least twice. They have scored over 1.5 goals in 7 of their last 9 home games, and with profiles like Lozano, Angel and Dreyer in attack, they are creating big chances from both open play and set pieces. They are among the league's most finishing teams, and with the pace they set in the games, it is difficult for the opponent to stem them over time.
