and Then we are starting with the 3rd exercise for the cross-country skiers. In the 20 km ski jump, Klæbo took the victory in the ski jump for the men and it was a slight surprise for many when Ebba Andersson took the gold for the women.
Tomorrow is the only individual race in this championship. For many, this race is very important. That's because it's man/woman against the clock all the way to the finish line. The interval start is something historic and real. It takes us right back to the good old days when there was no mass start on the program.
Real Trøndelag weather is forecast: sleet and rain. That makes it extra demanding for the skiers, and a lot will probably be decided by what the athletes have under their skis.
Ebba Andersson: Can she become WC queen?
She had a fantastic ski change where she managed to take the gold. That's exactly how she kept up in the classics, but when she got on her skate skis, she looked absolutely fantastic. In other words: Ebba's form is second to none.
Historically, she is the best in skating. She came out on top with a victory in the 10 km classic in Falun 2 weeks before the World Championships. This was one of the best classic races she has ever run. Admittedly, without the best at the start
There is no doubt that the Swede has mastered this technique as well. The course also suits her quite well. She likes it when it goes uphill, but she lost a lot downhill at 20 km of ski change. Maybe she had a bad glide, but it also looked like she took the turns badly. She can lose as much downhill as uphill.
Another Swede: Frida Karlsson complained a lot about classic skiing during the 20 km ski change, while Ebba and Sundling had good skis. But the weather tomorrow will not be any easier for the skiers, and historically the Swedes have missed x number of times before. It could also happen tomorrow, (but it could just as easily happen to any other team.)
Ebba has starting number 34.
Astrid Øyre Slind: On a Revenge?
The dream was shattered when everything went wrong during the ski change on Saturday. Slind managed to kick the ski (the one she was supposed to change to) so that she had to walk 15-20 meters forward to change skis. This ruined the competition for her.
What we will take away from Saturday's race was that Slind looked very good. It must be said that the hard terrain suited her very well, where she got a clear response from the surface. She looked good both uphill and downhill.
What I did not mention from the previous analysis was that she has trained in Granåsen for years and is very familiar with the trails.
I must honestly admit that I was unsure of her form before the championship, but she completely disproved me on Saturday. We know how good she is in classic, and I think the trails here suit her very well (like many others).
The Norwegian ski team often delivers good skis on this terrain here, and that is something we will take into account when we are going to place a bet in this H2H duel.
Astrid has starting number 40.
Conclusion
Once again we are pitting these two fantastic skiers against each other. Both are in great shape, and both skiers will be fighting for medals tomorrow. We see that Astrid starts after Ebba, which means that the Norwegian has the time to go compared to the Swede. We can also add that the Norwegian ski team usually delivers great skis in such conditions.
Historically, Astrid Ø. Slind usually thrives best in classic, and Ebba thrives best in skating, so we think a bet on Astrid Øyre Slind to finish before Ebba Andersson is exciting.
We play the following:
Norway at 15:30 Astrid Øyre Slind – Ebba Andersson: Astrid Øyre Slind (1.80) 3 units
