Analysis of:
Valur – Breidablik 10-08-2025
Analysis Information
In the fog of Champions League qualifiers and newly launched leagues, a top-flight match is being played on the island to the left of little Norway. For Valur, it's about not giving up points, while the visitors from Breidablik need everything they can get. It's tight at the top, and small margins will decide who gets to lift the trophy this year.
Valur – The team that refuses to let go of the top
The hosts of this exciting top match are the current league leaders. Valur welcome Breidablik to their own fort, supported by loyal supporters and dueling players. The home team, dressed in red, has shown dominance from start to finish and has been a regular on the odds lists for those of you who follow closely.
The Reds have a solid defense, forged together with midfielders who are willing to give their all for the club. When Valur really get behind and make it tight, it usually ends with three new points. But don't get me wrong – Valur's attack is even more impressive. Yet they often stop when they feel they have scored enough to win the game.
Unfortunately, the home team went down in the previous match. They tied for third place instead of three points, which they should have had. This was due to personal mistakes, which can be corrected in the next match. However, this mistake has created more pressure at the top of the table, where only a few points separate the teams. It probably gives Valur extra motivation to secure three new points in a match where they can create an important difference down to a potential 2nd place.
Similar to Norway and the Eliteserien, we find a Dane here with an impressive 17 goals in 17 matches. Patrick Pedersen from Denmark is without a doubt the main reason why Valur has scored goals this season. In 17 matches, Valur has won 10 and shared the points in four of the remaining seven. I see it as highly likely that they will take three points tonight as well.
Breidablik – Desperate for three important points
As one of the top candidates to win the series, I am somewhat surprised by a team that goes from draw to draw. You quickly notice that some teams are more well-organized than others in the Besta Deildin, and Breidablik is one of them. Few goals for, and few goals against. But that can change when they face a strong home team like the red-clad.
Breidablik have been chasing wins, but have ended up with only one point in far too many of their games recently. Still – they are considered the best away team of the season, so it could be tough. But it will still take a lot for them to manage three points against such a strong team.
Breidablik tend to provoke a lot of corners, so this can be included in the assessment for those who want it. At the same time, I think the match picture is a bit too difficult to predict when it comes to corners. Because if Breidablik goes behind and focuses on counterattacks, it is Valur who will press and get corners.
The guests do not have a Patrick Pedersen, but they have a more consistent scoring attack. If I had to single out one name, it would have to be the Dane Tobias Thomsen, who has eight goals in 16 games. But as mentioned – the team is defensively good. They have only conceded 22 goals in 17 games, unlike the teams at the bottom who are approaching 40 goals conceded.
Game selection
After talking a little about the teams and the situation they are in, I have made some thoughts about bets. I hope you as a reader have also made your own. Corners for both teams can be very relevant – especially live bets if one of the teams concedes early.
Still, I can't put down a bet on the home team. Normally I would bet on goals rather than marking, but the truth is that I'm actually not sure that Valur will score at least two goals against this defensively strong away team. The match could end as little as 1-0, and Valur will be happy.
If Valur hadn't been so good that they could suddenly have the day and score 3–4 goals, an under bet could have been very attractive. But we're staying away from that this time. The bet is therefore that Valur will win the match – based on their strong form, home advantage and players who fight with all their heart for the club.
