Analysis Information
Vålerenga – Frisk Asker – Ice Hockey – EHL Semifinal
Match start: Monday 24 March at 19:00
Over 4.5 goals (1.71)
Stake: 6/10 units
Three justifications for the game proposal
- 5 out of 6 meetings this season have gone over 4.5 goals – a clear trend.
- Vålerenga is unstructured at the back and many mistakes give more chances against, but they can also score goals.
- High pace and efficiency create many goals and open matches.
The semi-final series between Vålerenga and Frisk Asker has so far been characterized by Frisk dominance. Vålerenga has appeared as the weakest team in both matches, with poor defensive structure, imprecise passing and slow tempo. They also look tired, which is reinforced by injuries, quarantine and the situation surrounding Lasch, who recently lost his father. Frisk has been more energetic, structured and efficient. At the same time, five of six mutual matches this season have gone over 4.5 goals. With an open match and an unstable Vålerenga, everything points to another goal-rich match over 4.5 goals.
Semi-final 3 at Jordal Amphitheatre
The semi-final series between Vålerenga Ishockey and Frisk Asker has so far given a clear picture before game three on March 24: This is a series where Frisk Asker has had the upper hand in the game, and where Vålerenga is struggling to find its level.
Expectations before the series were high, and history promised open and goal-rich matches. We have also received that. At the same time, the first two matches have shown a clear difference in performance, especially in structure and energy.
Vålerenga
Vålerenga have emerged as the weakest team in both semi-final matches. Where they were structured and controlled earlier in the season, they have now struggled with fundamental parts of the game. Defensively, they have been disorganized, with large gaps and poor control in their own zone.
Offensively, it hasn't worked either. The passing game has been imprecise, the pace slower than normal, and they have had trouble establishing pressure. This results in few long attacks and little continuity in the game.
In addition, the team looks tired. There is a lack of energy in both duels and return runs, and it reinforces the impression of a team that is not quite where they need to be in a semi-final. Injuries, the quarantine at Olimb and the situation around Lasch help to explain some of this, but it does not change the picture of the match.
Fresh Asker
Frisk Asker, on the other hand, has been the leading team in the series so far. They have appeared more structured, more precise and not least more energetic. They are winning more duels, setting the pace of the game and exploiting Vålerenga's mistakes effectively.
They have been especially dangerous in the transition game. When Vålerenga loses the puck, Frisk is quick to turn the game around, and that has created several big chances in the first two games. They play with confidence and flow, and that gives them a clear advantage in the game.
Mutual settlement 2025/26
Looking at the entire season, the matches between the teams have been characterized by goals. Five out of six matches have gone over 4.5 goals, which points to a clear trend. These are matches that open up, with both teams creating chances, and conceding a lot.
Although Vålerenga had a slight advantage in the league, it is Frisk who has now taken control in the semifinals.
Both semi-final matches have confirmed the pattern. The tempo has been high, and the matches have been open for a while. The difference has been that Frisk has had better structure and utilized the spaces better, while Vålerenga has appeared more random in their play.
There have been many chances both ways, but Frisk Asker has taken advantage of them better than their opponent.
The fight
Towards game three it is difficult to imagine a completely different match picture. Vålerenga will have to improve significantly to even this out, especially defensively and in the passing game. At the same time, there is little indication that Frisk will change their approach, they will continue to play with pace and exploit space.
With a Vålerenga team struggling structurally, the likelihood of another open match increases. And based on form, match picture and history, one thing stands out: This will be another match over 4.5 goals. And I wouldn't be surprised if Frisk Asker wins again
