Analysis Information
They say that something has to be repeated three times before it can be called a tradition, but Tromsø is already well underway with a new and very charming tradition: the midnight sun match. Never before has a match in the Eliteserien started so late as 10:00 PM.
Tromsø invited for the very first time to a midnight sun match last year, and now the city is once again dressed in red and white for another football party under the midnight sun!
It's not every day that foreign media writes about Tromsø football, but last year's match was an exception - when the magical atmosphere under the midnight sun was mentioned in several international articles.
Tromsø – Undefeated the last two months
Tromsø is a team that often goes under the radar. They don't get as much media coverage as other teams – and that probably suits them just fine. Jørgen Vik has been given time to build the team after he took over coaching responsibility alone, and this now seems to be bearing fruit. Vik received a lot of criticism at the start of the season, and rumors swirled that he was going to be fired. However, he stood firm through the storm, and Tromsø now looks better than it has in a long time – which is also reflected in the table.
Tromsø is currently the best-form team in the Eliteserien, with five wins in the last five games. Due to differences in the number of games played, the table position does not necessarily give the most accurate picture. However, if you look at average points per game, Tromsø would be in 2nd place. Zlatko Tripic recently launched Tromsø as a possible gold candidate on Fotballkveld . I personally do not think they have a wide enough squad to be at the very top – even if they only have the Eliteserien to concentrate on. Several of the other gold candidates also have to think about European cup games, and that could give Tromsø an advantage.
Tromsø has several exciting players, and the hottest right now is the 18-year-old from Gambia, Kinteh Abubacarr Sedi. He is a stopper with enormous physique, and just remember the name – he will be playing in the big stadiums in a few years. This is a player Tromsø will probably get very good money for.
At home, Tromsø have been a bit unstable so far this season, and are 3–0–2 and have a goal difference of 7–6. The team from the north has actually performed better away from home, but now has two straight 2–1 wins over Bodø/Glimt and Vålerenga. "Gutane" have just set a club record with six straight wins in the Eliteserien, and have not given up points since the home game against KFUM in early May. There are also no special injuries to report in the squad.
Molde – Challenging times
The 2025 season has been a difficult start for Molde. The team that fought for the European places last year is struggling much more this season. There is a lot of writing around Per-Mathias Høgmo and whether he is the right man for the job. Now the club has brought in Magne Hoseth as assistant coach – so we will see how it develops further throughout the season.
Molde has underperformed so far, and even though the arrow is starting to point in the right direction, the team is still far too unstable in its game. They have started to get somewhat better results and performances recently, but their performances still fluctuate greatly from match to match. Molde is also significantly better away from home. At home they are 1–1–4 and have a goal difference of 6–10, while away they have 3–1–2 and a goal difference of 10–7. In other words: Molde has been clearly stronger on the road.
Looking at the last six games, Molde have won two and lost four. Both victories came away from home – first 0–3 against Brann in Bergen, then 2–3 against Vålerenga in Oslo. A consistent problem for Molde this season has been that they often play one good half and one weak half. The day they manage to keep the intensity and quality up for 90 minutes, the results will probably be much better.
Kristian Eriksen is out with a knee injury and is not expected to return until the fall. It is a big loss for Molde, as he is an important offensive piece in the team.
Conclusion – Midnight Sun over Tromsø – "Gutan" are favorites
The atmosphere at Romssa Arena will be unique in tonight's game. It's not always easy to get up north to play a game, but with tonight's setting around the "midnight sun game" I think it will be extra intense. The audience is encouraged to dress in red and white, support the club and fill the stadium.
Not everyone gets to experience a midnight sun match, and there is something magical about it. We are crossing our fingers that magic happens on the pitch, and that we get a fast-paced football match with counterattacks and tough duels in the midnight sun.
We believe Tromsø will continue their good form and extend their new club record for consecutive wins. In addition, they will get an extra boost from the context surrounding the match. Tromsø is the favorite with the bookmakers, and a clean home win can be had at odds of 2.25. Nevertheless, we will take a little less risk and try the following bets:
Eliteserien at 22:00: Tromsø – Molde: Tromsø Draw No Bet (1.69)
Alternative games:
Tromso win 2.25
Tromsø over 1.5 goals 2.12
Both teams to score 1.67
