Analysis of:
Strømsgodset – Molde 31-08-2025

Written by: Ragnar Sundberg

Analysis Information
Strømsgodset, one of the weakest teams in this year's elite series, will host one of the big form teams at the moment, when Molde comes to visit.
Molde, who after Hoseth joined the coaching staff, has taken enormous steps. Looks like a clear candidate for another victory here. Because while Høgmo struggled before he got much-needed help on the field, the coaching cabal finally seems to have taken shape. Molde is quickly looking like a top team again.
Strømsgodset has also made an attempt to do something on the coaching front. But Fagermo doesn't seem to have fully figured this out yet, and Strømsgodset still looks lost this season.
Strømsgodset – Soon to be wrecked.
Strømsgodset is currently a sinking ship that is heading steadily towards the abyss. Even with a new skipper on the ship in the form of Fagermo. This seems to have only one course. It is towards the abyss called OBOS. Because the team now stands with only one win and one draw in the last 14 games. That's a whole 12 losses. Incredibly weak.
You may have seen some development in the game after Fagermo came. But a win against Haugesund, and a draw against Bryne, who are completely out of form themselves, are not convincing. It is also not long ago that they played away against the same opponent they face here. Then they were swept off the field with a score of 4-1 in the bag. A match Molde completely dominated, as late as 19-07.
We think that the balance of power is still intact, and that Strømsgodset will struggle to get anything out of this match. They will certainly be missing Mehnert, who has been out for a while, but in addition, Lars Vilsvik is uncertain. He has been a regular player, and will certainly be a player they will miss if he does not play.
If we look at the Home Statistics, it is actually the case that they have only beaten Haugesund at home, and otherwise have 8 losses. Yes, you read that right. 8 total losses. This from a team that is normally difficult on their own turf. That says a lot about this Strømsgodset team this year. We can't see them being good enough in this match either.
Molde – Found the flow.
Molde is a team that many expected to be in contention for the medals this season. But they have struggled. They have struggled so much to begin with, that many demanded Høgmo's head on a platter. Especially since it was initially a somewhat controversial decision to hire him.
Høgmo has occasionally delivered some brilliant results as a coach. But common to all the times he has done well is that he has had good coaches around him on the field. It seems as if he has now received help in the form of Hoseth. We wrote early on that it could have an effect. He is well liked by the group, and we have seen a development in the game since he arrived. Molde is now emerging with a more clear and distinctive way of playing. We believe that Hoset has brought something to the table there. We first saw some improvement in the playing style, and now the results have also started to come.
Four wins and a draw in their last 5 games have suddenly made them one of the most in-form teams in the division, and they have also made a bit of a comeback with a view to a position that will allow them to play in Europe next season. They are now only 6 points behind 4th place. They have also made an important decision to bet on Fredrik Gulbrandsen at the top. It seems to have had an effect, and he has scored in all four of their last 5 wins. There are still no odds on him scoring a goal. But it could certainly be worth a few kroner in betting, if the odds are right. So watch out for it.
In any case, we look at the balance of power between these teams as the situation is right now, and believe we have found a safe bet to land on.
Conclusion – We go for the form layer.
It should come as no surprise that we choose to go for the form layer here.
Strømsgodset simply haven't shown us anything to warrant any kind of faith in them. So when we get good odds on Molde here, we play the following bet.
Eliteserien at 19:15: Strømsgodset – Molde: Molde wins (1.85)
