Strømsgodset – Bryne 16-05-2025

The day before the day, or for many the day itself. The May 16th matches have a very special place here in Norway.

It is the real party day in the football family. It is the most visited day of the year. The association also often puts a little bit of effort into which matches they set up. So it is not unusual for the teams with the greatest potential in the stands to get a home game.

It is therefore not particularly surprising that newly promoted Bryne had to accept playing away this round. Strømsgodset, on the other hand, is a team that gets this opportunity more or less every other year. Last year they got beaten away against a high-flying Fredrikstad. This year they will probably hope to do something similar at Marienlyst Stadion, when they get the opportunity against this bottom team.

Strømsgodset – Ready for battle.

Strømsgodset, who have not played a match since 04.05, are probably starving to get back on track after the weak home match they had against Kristiansund last time. They lost 2-1, in a match that swung back and forth. It is a bit out of step with how Strømsgodset appear. They want to go forward to score, and are therefore also punished a bit when they become naive. They have the capacity to beat many of the best. Especially at home they can be difficult to face.

The results have fluctuated a lot. For example, they have beaten Sarpsborg away, while they lost in the cup to Mjøndalen. But as we know, these matches live regardless of level difference. They are not best friends. Something we have noticed is that even though they are down in 12th place after their 6 matches. They have still managed to score 12 goals. This considering that they have also faced teams like Brann and Rosenborg. Only teams like Brann and Viking have scored more so far in this year's league, and that with more matches.

It's no secret that betting on goals is tempting here. But what we end up with depends on the team they face. So let's take a look there before we decide.

Bryne – At the bottom to stay.

A bit like we predicted in our table tips for the year, Bryne has had a tough start. They have so far in the series with one win against Haugesund. A game they had to win. Haugesund looks completely lost so far this season. Otherwise, it has been a bit of a struggle.

As is often the case if the team is not good enough for the level they play at. Then it quickly becomes just almost. They still showed that they can succeed in individual matches, as was the case when they beat Brann in the cup. So you shouldn't let yourself down against this team, because there is enough effort.

One of the biggest challenges the team has, however, is the amount of goals they concede. They have so far played 6 games, and conceded a total of 13 goals. That doesn't bode well. Especially heading into this game, when they will now face one of the teams that produce the most goals of all in the league.

It must be said that the team has faced tough opposition so far. The team has been through matches against Molde (0-3), Rosenborg (0-3), Bodø Glimt (0-1) in a match Glimt missed a penalty and Brann (2-3). But they also conceded two goals against Kristiansund (1-2). We see that the team struggles against the offensively strong teams, and we believe they will do so in this one as well.

Conclusion – A hungry home team will attack.

Strømsgodset are looking to improve their performance and will definitely attack with everything they have on the artificial turf. It will be tough for Bryne, and a home win is tempting at odds of 1.72.

But we think we have found an even safer bet at marginally better odds. Because we believe this Godset team will continue to score goals, while Bryne will continue to concede. So when we get such good odds on this one, we have to try the following bet.
