Sotra – Pors 20-09-2025

Analysis Information
Few divisions are as dramatic as our own PostNord League, Division 1. And with two teams, both of whom have everything to play for, it is expected that today's selected match will also contain drama. But most importantly; we have a clear opinion about who will run away with the points.
Sotra – founded on a solid defensive foundation
Renate Blindheim, who made history when she became the first woman to coach a men's team in one of Norwegian football's top three divisions in 2020, has done great things with this Sotra team. And after establishing themselves as a good 2nd division team, with 7th place last year, the Westland team has emerged as a team with a clear profile this year, and this year's 2nd place is no surprise.
Because with 39 points they are three points behind FK Jerv, and they have 2nd place in their pocket. For now. But there is a big difference between 1st place and 2nd place in this department. Because if they end up where they are now, they will have to go into a qualifying match against the second place in the neighboring pool, before the winner meets the team that finishes third last in the OBOS league. In other words; 2nd place gives no guarantees.
But as previously mentioned; Sotra's success is based on two things, and the most important is the defensive. The playing style is clear, and they are extremely good in the low block. You can also see that if you take a look at the table. Because in a league where the lowest goal average is 2.6 goals, and most other teams are averaging close to four goals, it is very impressive for Sotra to only concede 17 goals so far this year. That is clearly the best in the department, and if we ignore the league leader Sandnes Ulf with his 22 goals behind, most teams are 30-40 goals behind each.
A good defense is one thing, but Sotra has more strengths. They have a man named Lars Kilen. Kilen, who left Sotra to try his luck in OBOS with Åsane, is now back, and at times he is an attack on his own. With 11 goals so far this year, his extreme skills fit perfectly with Sotra's defensive philosophy. Because at times it has almost looked as if the team has had a consensus; Lars fixes the goals as long as the rest stop the opponent from scoring. Because with 39 goals in 20 games, it is quite clear that Sotra can do more than defend itself.
Pors – it's burning in Grenland
As previously mentioned, PostNord avd. 1 is very even and tight. A total of eight teams are involved in the relegation battle, and for me, who is emotionally involved in this, it greatly affects my sleep at night. But my heart does not lie with any of today's teams, and therefore I can look at this match with the calculating eye of a winning odds player. So it remains to be seen whether it is sufficient this time.
But Pors is in trouble. They are on a three-game losing streak, and with only 2 points below the relegation zone, a loss here could be very decisive. Especially considering that Brann 2 will face Sandviken and Vard Haugesund will have Eik-Tønsberg. Pors could thus potentially end the week below the line.
But the gang from Grenland should be given credit for trying to entertain. They are playing well, and the team has several exciting profiles. But Petter Hagen in the Pors cage has had several questionable involvements lately, and when you also have a defense that almost always lets the opponent in a couple of times during a match, it can quickly be a tough day at work for Pors. Especially when we know that Lars Kilen will take his chances when they appear.
Conclusion – value in an unexpected place
This match was chosen largely because of the value at a particular bookmaker, namely; Norsk Tipping . It's not often that you can lift the Norwegian monopoly up as best in class, but here they are miles ahead of everyone else. Because even though the odds are low, they are high compared to the foreign bookmakers, and odds are all about value. And that's what you get at NT.
Sotra should be a much better team than Pors. In addition, the playing style and form suggest that this could quickly be a comfortable victory for the home team, preferably with a handicap. NT is naturally the best there too.
Because Pors needs points. And even if they are likely to be low and go for a draw, their defensive challenges will give the home team enough chances for Sotra to score. Pors has conceded an average of 2.4 goals away from home this year, and will not be able to keep Kilen and Sotra off the scoresheet. After all, the Westlanders have scored an average of 2.6 goals per home game this year. And Sotra also needs points. They want 1st place to secure direct promotion, instead of 2nd place which gives qualification. So when the goal comes first, and Pors has to concede in the hope of survival, this could quickly turn ugly.
So that's why we suggest the following, and we suggest you play it at Norsk Tipping;
Norway at 13:00: Sotra – Pors: Sotra wins (1.58)
Alternative game:
Norway at 13:00: Sotra – Pors: Sotra wins -1.5 goals (2.30)
