Bodø/Glimt vs Slavia Prague: Expert analysis and betting tips CL

Finally, the time has come for Bodø to fight to become the world's best team in the Champions League itself. The hope of convincing the outside world that little Norway can be a real threat to the big teams from the biggest leagues lives on. Glimt are ready to do everything in their power to make the Czechs tremble in the shadow of Kasper Høgh's goal celebrations.

Slavia Prague – Defensive giants

A home team known for order and solid defensive structure is ready to put an end to the guests from the north and secure important points on their own home field against the underdog dressed in yellow.

The Champions League is not new to Slavia, and the experience from previous big matches will probably give the players confidence that makes it easier to defend their own goal against what Kjetil Knutsen sends into attack. But with a reduced squad and injuries, it may be more difficult to close the gap at the back – something they are normally very good at. I do not rule out that they will struggle to keep a clean sheet tonight.

Players like David Zima, Dominik Javorček, Giannis-Fivos Boto and Ondřej Kričfaluši are all doubtful for the match. It makes an already difficult job even tougher. Whether this will be a big enough handicap for the home team we don't know, but there are elements of unrest that can certainly affect the game and the result – and open up for more setbacks.

Bodø/Glimt – Fairytale heroes from the north

There are few who have not heard of the small, or should we say “big”, team from the north. Bodø has managed to write an adventure-filled football history without parallel. With Kjetil Knutsen in the tactical bunker, he has created a team with strategies and playing style that have shocked even some of the biggest clubs in the world. And now they are going to give it another try.

Unfortunately, the match will not be played at Aspmyra, because then it would have been a walkover to Bodø/Glimt. No one wants to face them at home – many big teams have already felt the pain of that.

But it doesn't look dark because of that. Bodø can still do damage to a team like Slavia Prague at home in the Czech Republic, there is no doubt about it. It is possible that Glimt may hold back a bit or play more cautiously without Aspmyra in the back, but I still have high expectations for an offensive approach from the yellow-clad team.

With Kasper Høgh and his teammates as chess pieces in Knutsen's master plan, I expect a team that will give everything for the jersey. There are few injuries that weaken the team, and with an economy that now makes the squad broad and full of quality - also on the bench - they are better equipped than ever.

We could talk about the attack for ages, but we must also mention the defense. Although it has improved in recent years, it is still not tight enough. Bodø/Glimt concedes many unnecessary goals, and the clean sheet is rarely kept, even with a very capable Nikita Haikin in goal. Therefore, the chance of Glimt both scoring and conceding is high – which gives good odds opportunities.

In the Eliteserien, Bodø/Glimt score an average of 2.5 goals per game, which is very impressive, but they also concede about 1 goal on average. This supports the point that the team is leaking a little bit, and could easily do so in such a big away game. But it is highly likely that they will score themselves.

Conclusion – Game Choices

My first thought was an underdog, as the home team is strong defensively and Glimt is playing away. But I quickly put that thought aside. Because after what Bodø just showed at home against Sturm Graz, where they refused to let go of the gas pedal, the goals can come in droves – especially if Kasper Høgh has the day.

A more open game that includes both teams is more tempting after much deliberation. Both teams seem almost guaranteed to score, and if it ends 1–1, it won't take long for the game to go over 2.5 goals in total.

A combination bet with “Over 2.5 goals + BTS” gives very good odds of 1.80, and is definitely worth the risk based on the match picture we are served. Thus, it was quite easy to land on an open goal bet rather than pure match marking, although this also gives nice high odds. We therefore end up on a goal bet where both teams are involved – and we can look forward to an entertaining Champions League match.
