Analysis Information
SJK Akatemia host what must be the big promotion favorite in Ykkosliiga. The second highest division in Finland. Lahti, who are playing in this division for the first time since 2011, have a clear goal to make this stay as short as possible. They have had a great start to the season, and lead the division with 1 point after 13 games. The promotion will clearly be between Lahti and TPS who are in second place. What is important in this regard is that only 1 team is guaranteed promotion, and team number two must go to qualification to secure a possible promotion.
SJK Akatemia should not be a benchmark here. They are in 9th place, which is familiar territory for this team. They usually belong in this tier in this division. Let's take a look at the strength of the teams.
SJK Akademia – Bottom team as usual.
The home team should be the underdog here and rightly so. They are simply facing a team that belongs on a different level. SJK usually plays in the lower part of the division, and that is where they are this season. The team has played 13 games and is 3-3-7 so far. Goal difference is 23-23. They are 20 points behind today's opponent so far. We think it will be more.
They are not in their best form, and are now 1-0-3 in their last 4 matches. They have also conceded a lot of goals in the same matches, and we think today's opponent will take advantage of that. There have been 11 goals conceded in these 4 matches, which means that almost half of the goals conceded have come in these matches. With such a number of goals conceded, this team should not take many points.
They have been a rather greedy team earlier in the season, so the development has gone the wrong way here. We think that creates uncertainty when they face this top team. Lahti, who showed that they are able to score the goals they need, such as last time with 3 goals with 10 men, will probably be able to find their way to the net here.
Lahti – Too good for the division.
The team that had to take the tough trip down a division last year has really decided to make this stay as short as possible. They have shown so far that they are too good for this level. It was a surprise when the team was relegated last year. It will not be a surprise if they are promoted again.
They have 32 points in 13 games and are 10-2-1. The goal difference is 24-13. Solid! The team showed in the last game that they have what it takes. The team was down 0-2 early, then they got a man sent off. Played an hour with a man less, but still turned around to win 3-2. That says a lot about this team.
There is very little to complain about in their form. They are now on a 7-game winning streak. It should not be necessary to argue that they are favorites in this match. As we mentioned in the introduction, all matches are important to win for Lahti. They are being chased by TPS, who are one point behind. Therefore, matches like this can be absolutely crucial at the end of the season. Then the winner of the division will be promoted, while the second team will have to qualify. This makes us confident that there will be no danger of underestimating this match.
Conclusion – The best team wins.
Sometimes the simplest is the best. We think the favorite Lahti will win this one. It is of course tempting to bet Lahti -1.5 goals. But the reason we don't do that is that Lahti has won by only 1 goal in the last 5 games. So we take the risk down a bit, and instead increase the bet a bit. We get a decent payout for victory, and choose to try the safe option. The bet is therefore as follows.
