Analysis of:
Roma – Juventus 06-07-2025

Analysis Information
Analysis of the teams
Sunday at 20:45 it's all over at the Stadio Olimpico! An in-form Roma will host Juventus in a match that could have major consequences for the top flight in Serie A. Juventus is currently in 5th place, only three points ahead of the home team.
Claudio Ranieri is looking to end his coaching career in style, having recently announced he will retire at the end of the season. To do so, Roma will need to maintain their impressive winning streak. On the opposite bench is Thiago Motta, who will need to find a winning formula for Juventus. The Turin club have had a challenging period and are in dire need of a win in a big match like this.
Rome – Can the winning streak continue?
The home team is in a fantastic period. They last dropped points in Serie A on February 2, when they drew with Napoli. Their last league defeat came all the way back on December 15 last year, which underlines how solid Roma have been this season.
However, there are challenges ahead of this weekend's clash. Playmaker Paulo Dybala is out with a hamstring injury, and it is uncertain whether he will be able to play again this season. In addition, Alexis Saelemaekers is suspended after accumulating too many yellow cards. These are two key players for Ranieri - Saelemaekers has delivered six goals from his wing-back position and has been a constant threat offensively. Dybala has also scored six goals and is crucial to Roma's attacking play.
Roma have a tough match schedule for the rest of the season, and it will be exciting to see if they can maintain their form. So far in 2025, they have been superb.
What has worked well for the home team is the balance between defensive and offensive play. The team has two wing-backs who are not only solid at the back, but who also contribute offensively and create goal chances on counterattacks. In the middle of the pitch they have an experienced trio of centre-backs who are skilled at defending their own box and dealing with pressure.
Offensively, Roma also have a key piece in power forward Artem Dovbyk, who has scored 11 goals this season and has been a constant threat to opposing defenses. The team has a knack for laying down compactly and closing off central space, then quickly switching to counterattacks. Once they do, they are often very direct in their attacking play.
Juventus – When will things loosen up for the big club?
For Juventus, the second half of the season has been marked by frustration and instability, with the team crashing out of the Coppa Italia against Empoli and the Champions League against PSV – two opponents they should have had a good chance of beating.
The shocking 0-4 home defeat to Atalanta a few weeks ago came as a huge surprise, and was followed by another ugly defeat away to Fiorentina (0-3). This was all the more surprising because Juventus had previously beaten both PSV and league leaders Inter 1-0, which led many to believe that they were back on the winning track. But the instability continued, and the team fell back into old patterns.
Despite their inconsistent form, Juventus are still in 5th place, trailing the likes of Milan, Roma and Fiorentina. Offensively, they have width and several potential goalscorers, including Dusan Vlahovic if he gets his chance from the start. Young Turkish player Kenan Yildiz has also impressed this season, scoring the only goal of the match in the last round, securing three important points.
Where Juventus have previously been known for their solid defense, this has been an Achilles heel in recent games. The team has conceded seven goals in just two games against Atalanta and Fiorentina, which shows a lack of defensive organization and presence at crucial moments. This must be improved immediately if they are to secure a top 4 finish.
I think it could be a night filled with scoring chances
I imagine this will be a game where Juventus will do everything they can to avoid going down. They will probably try to take control from the start to prevent a repeat of the games against Atalanta and Fiorentina. The question is whether they will succeed – because with Juventus you never quite know what you are going to get.
Roma, on the other hand, will likely stick to their usual game plan: dominate duels, possess the ball, fill up the box when the opportunity arises, exploit counterattacks – and, not least, be effective in front of goal.
Italy at: 20:45: Roma – Juventus: both teams to score (1.84)
alternative bet: over 9.5 corners (2.05)
