Analysis of:
Roma – Inter 18-10-2025
Analysis Information
The international break is over, and we're finally ready to get back into Serie A. This week we're also in for a real treat: two teams that have both started the season strongly meet in a top-flight clash. A team that barely concedes a goal takes on a team that barely does anything but score – this is set to be very entertaining.
Rome – the wolves guarding their own cage
It's been a solid start to the season for the Wolves in Red. Three straight league wins have lifted them up to second place in the table and into the top flight. Although Roma haven't been the most effective offensively, their defensive discipline has really impressed. With four clean sheets and just two goals conceded, they are the team that has conceded the fewest goals in all of Serie A.
However, things haven't gone quite smoothly since then. Seven goals in six games aren't exactly a number to brag about, but it's been enough – many of the games have ended in the classic 1–0 victory. Power forward Artem Dovbyk has yet to find his best form, and has only scored once. Instead, young Argentine Matías Soulé has taken charge. With three goals and two assists, he is the team's most productive player so far.
In the previous round, we saw the stingy Roma team again when they pulled off a 1-2 away win against Fiorentina – a game that could easily have gone either way. It was three points anyway, and the team has good conditions before this weekend's big game.
Inter – attack is the best defense
Many raised eyebrows when Christian Chivu was announced as Simone Inzaghi's replacement. After a somewhat shaky start with two straight losses against Udinese and Juventus, the Inter machine has since started to roll as we know it. With a total of 17 goals in six games, it goes without saying that the offensive game is working as it should. Several players contribute both with goals and assists, and all the strikers in the squad have opened the goal account.
Newcomer Ange-Yoan Bonny has had a strong start to life in Milan, scoring two goals and assisting three in Serie A since joining from Udinese. As we have seen in recent years, this is an Inter team characterised by intensity, structure and a strong team spirit. When the team attacks, everyone gets involved – whether it’s Bastoni driving the ball forward, Dimarco curling in a cross from the wing, or Çalhanoğlu testing his shot from distance. Inter attack and defend as a unified unit, which makes them extremely difficult to deal with.
Termination
The last time the teams met, Roma pulled off a thrilling 0-1 win at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. However, in the four games before that, Inter had emerged victorious. The matches between these teams are usually close, intense and full of nerves.
Inter are known for creating big chances and scoring in spades, while Roma have a defensive wall that is difficult to break down. With two such different but strong teams on the pitch, everything is set for a match where anything can happen.
