Analysis of:
Real Sociedad - Mallorca 12-04-2025

Analysis Information
Saturday, April 12th, the Reale Arena in San Sebastián will be the scene when Real Sociedad host Mallorca in what could be a close and important La Liga duel, with both teams having a lot to play for. But the starting points for the teams are different, and we will take advantage of that.
Real Sociedad – Has found his goal form again
Real Sociedad have had a mixed season. They have been solid defensively, but have struggled at times to convert chances into goals, which has prevented them from establishing themselves comfortably in the top six. The team is currently in eighth place, seven points off sixth place, but still has hopes of a place in Europe. The match against Mallorca will therefore be very important to keep alive their ambitions of European competition next season.
In their last four games, Sociedad have scored a whopping 11 goals, giving the team a much-needed confidence boost. In this home game, they will likely continue with the attacking style that has given them a boost recently.
Real Sociedad, however, have some uncertain cards. Defender Igor Zubeldia and full-back Álvaro Odriozola are doubtful, while Brais Méndez and Sheraldo Becker are out with injuries.
Under coach Imanol Alguacil, the team has a distinct playing style, with ball possession, precise passing and a mobile midfield as key elements.
Mallorca – Safer, but weakened
Mallorca, on the other hand, have been battling relegation for much of the season. With limited offensive power and a growing injury list, it has been difficult for Jagoba Arrasate's men to establish consistency in their performances. However, they now have a gap of 12 points from the relegation zone, which gives them some breathing room - but no chance to completely slouch.
The injury problems are significant for this away match. The team's most important striker, Vedat Muriqi, suffered a hamstring injury and had to leave after 37 minutes in the previous match against Celta Vigo. Midfielder Manu Morlanes and striker Takuma Asano are also out with injuries – the latter with a thigh injury. In addition, Robert Navarro, who previously played for Real Sociedad, is missing.
Mallorca will likely play deep and rely on counterattacks and set pieces – their main weapons throughout the season. Without Muriqi in the box, they are significantly weakened in the air, and that will require more from players like Dani Rodríguez and Antonio Sánchez offensively.
Sociedad in the flow zone
Historically, Real Sociedad have had a solid grip on Mallorca, especially at home. The last five meetings at the Reale Arena have ended in victory for the Basques. Although the matches have not always been goal-rich, Real Sociedad are now showing clear offensive improvements – while Mallorca is struggling defensively.
Mallorca have scored just 29 goals in 30 games this season – third lowest in the league. Real Sociedad, on the other hand, have found their scoring form with 11 goals in their last four games, both home and away.
This is a game Real Sociedad should and must win if they are to stay in touch with the teams ahead of them in the table. Mallorca will be happy with a point and will do everything to frustrate the hosts, but without their most important attacking cards it looks tough for the visitors. And with goals in 4 of the last 5 games for Mikel Oyarzabal, it is a nice so we also launch an exciting alternative to the main game;
Spain at 14:00: Real Sociedad - Mallorca: Over 1.5 goals to Real Sociedad (2.27)
Alternative game:
Spain at 14:00: Real Sociedad – Mallorca: Mikel Oyarzabal scores goal (3.00)
