Finally, the Mizuno League is back in action! After a long and eventful warm-up, it's ready for new serves, block points and nerve-wracking five-set thrillers. The teams have spent the summer building form, honing their skills and bringing in new players, and now everything is going to be put to the test. It's something very special when Norwegian volleyball's top level finally gets going again and the pace has slowed down outside and autumn has hit hard, just like the storm "AMY".

Randaberg – new season new opportunities

Randaberg enters this season with a renewed squad after Tobias Lorentzen, Håvard Aarrestad and Tommi Silventoinen have left and joined UiSi Volley. The club has also brought in three players from its own ranks and brought in three new ones from TVN. Now the team is ready for the first league match of the season and extra eager for revenge after last year, when they lost 2–3 at home in the series opener against Øksil.

Key player: Kjetil Riisland

Axe – indomitable courage

Øksil starts the season knowing that they are missing two of their supposedly best players – Isak Helland Hansen and Mathias Loftesnes – who are currently unavailable. Mathias is in India on a short stay abroad. Øksil therefore fields a young but very eager team that has taken the trip south in the storm. The team lost 1–3 against TVN on Saturday 4 October and then had to make the difficult trip from Sand to Stavanger to meet Randaberg on Sunday 5 October at 12:00.

Key player: Oskar Gabrielsen

Who wins?

What kind of match can we expect, considering that this is the first league match of the season for Randaberg, while Øksil already has one match and a long drive in their legs?

Randaberg will probably go all out, knowing that Øksil may be tired both physically and mentally after the long journey from Vesterålen and having played a match the day before. It is also not ideal to face a team like Randaberg on the away field in such conditions, especially when the wind and storm "Amy" have made the journey extra demanding.

Randaberg has had plenty of time to prepare for this match and will probably try to set a high tempo from the start to exploit Øksil's heavy legs. At the same time, Øksil has everything to win. They can play with their shoulders down and focus on fighting back after the loss to TVN. If Øksil manages to keep the serve pressure and resist in the reception, they can certainly give Randaberg a fight for the points, but Randaberg has the advantage in terms of both conditions and home court.
