We are in the penultimate round of the French league. PSG have long since secured the league title, but the final two rounds still deserve close attention. The battle for the top spots is both exciting and tight.

Extremely exciting series finale in France

It's completely open between the teams in places 2 to 7. The question is who will make it into the given company, and who will end up outside. We think the teams will fight hard to secure the places that give European games next season. Hopefully we will see lots of goals, attacking teams and lots of motivation!

There is also great tension in the battle for the bottom. Montpellier has already been relegated. It seems that Horneland's St. Etienne will follow them to Ligue 2. Although it is still theoretically possible to save the place, we do not think that Horneland's whistling and energetic style will be enough this time. There is a bigger battle for the qualification place. Four teams are fighting closely, and only two points separate 13th and 16th place.

Places 1 to 3 give a direct place in the Champions League. 4th place gives qualification for the Champions League. 5th place gives play in the Europa League, while 6th place gives qualification for the Conference League. 17th and 18th place give direct relegation, while 16th place must go into qualification against teams from Ligue 2.

As of today, the table looks like this:

Let's take a look at tonight's matches in Ligue 1.

These are our thoughts on Saturday's round, and the tips we believe in the most are posted on the odds list. All matches will be played on Saturday 10.05.2025 with kick-off at 21.00.

Angers – Strasbourg:

Both teams need points – Angers to stay above the qualification line, and Strasbourg in the hunt for a place in the Champions League. Strasbourg is the team in the best form, but has been clearly stronger at home than away this season. Nevertheless, they are highly motivated for European play, and if they are to have a realistic chance, they need to take three points today.

Form and statistics:

  • Angers (home, last 5): 2–1–2, goal difference 6–11.
Average for the season at home: 1.20 goals scored / 2.00 goals conceded per game.
  • Strasbourg (away, last 5): 4–1–0, goal difference 5–0.
Has kept a clean sheet in five straight away games.
Average away goals for the season: 1.40 goals scored / 1.40 goals conceded per game.

Odds tip:  Strasbourg over 1.5 goals1.80

Auxerre–Nantes

Auxerre are done and have little to play for. They have conceded goals in 12 of 16 home games – only top teams have managed to keep a clean sheet. Nantes are one point above the qualification line and need points, preferably all three. Their form is not convincing, but they have scored in 13 of 16 away games this season.

Form and statistics:

  • Auxerre (home): 2–1–2 | Goal difference 2–11
Average for the season at home: 1.20 goals scored / 1 goal conceded
  • Nantes (away): 1–0–4 | Goal difference 6–15
Average for the season away: 1.20 goals scored / 2.10 goals conceded

Odds tip: Both teams to score1.72

Brest–Lille

Brest has nothing to play for, while Lille is fighting for a place in the Champions League. It is very tight at the top, so three points are crucial for Lille.

Form and statistics:

  • Brest (home): 3–1–1 | Goal difference 6–4
Average for the season at home: 1.80 goals scored / 1.30 goals conceded
  • Lille (away): 2–1–2 | Goal difference 5–6
Average for the season away: 1.30 goals scored / 1.00 goals conceded

Odds tip: Small winner1.75

Le Havre–Marseille

Both teams need points – Le Havre to avoid the qualification place, and Marseille to secure Champions League play. Marseille have been weak on the road lately, but are still the league's second best away team overall. Le Havre is the league's weakest home team, having lost 11 games so far.

Form and statistics:

  • Le Havre (home): 1–2–2 | Goal difference 7–13
Average for the season at home: 0.88 goals scored / 2.40 goals conceded
  • Marseille (away): 0–1–4 | Goal difference 3–13
Average away goals for the season: 2.25 goals scored / 1.44 goals conceded
(Conceded 10 goals in the first 11 away games, but conceded 13 in the last 5)

Betting tips: Marseille -1 asian handicap

Monaco–Lyon

Both teams are fighting for European play, but Lyon have the pressure – they probably need three points to get there. Monaco are in solid home form.

Form and statistics:

  • Monaco (home): 4–1–0 | Goal difference 15–2
Average for the season at home: 2.25 goals scored / 1.00 goals conceded
  • Lyon (away): 2–0–3 | Goal difference 12–8
Average for the season away: 1.75 goals scored / 1.44 goals conceded

Odds tip: Both teams to score + over 2.5 goals1.64

Montpellier – PSG

Neither team has anything to play for. Expect low intensity, but PSG should still have the quality needed.

Betting tip: PSG -1.5 handicap1.77

Reims–Saint-Étienne

This is the match Saint-Étienne must win to have any hope of avoiding relegation. Reims is already guaranteed direct relegation, but could still end up in the qualifiers. Saint-Étienne will be extremely motivated, and it is their last chance to survive! For this reason, this bet is set.

Form and statistics:

  • Reims (home): 2–0–3 | Goal difference 4–5
Average for the season at home: 1.10 goals scored / 1.44 goals conceded
  • Saint-Étienne (away): 1–1–3 | Goal difference 5–10
Average for the season away: 0.80 goals scored / 2.75 goals conceded

Odds tip: X2 (Saint-Étienne does not lose)1.82

Rennes–Nice

Rennes has no motivation, while Nice is chasing the Champions League and is coming off a strong away win against PSG. Motivated away team with confidence.

Form and statistics:

  • Rennes (home): 2–0–3 | Goal difference 4–8
Average for the season at home: 1.44 goals scored / 1.10 goals conceded
  • Nice (away): 3–1–1 | Goal difference 12–7
Average for the season away: 1.75 goals scored / 1.50 goals conceded

Odds tip: Both teams to score + over 2.5 goals1.95

Toulouse–Lens

Neither team has anything to play for. Lens is in better form and has had the upper hand in previous meetings.

Form and statistics:

  • Toulouse (home): 1–1–3 | Goal difference 6–9
Average for the season at home: 1.20 goals scored / 1.30 goals conceded
  • Lens (away): 3–0–2 | Goal difference 7–6
Average for the season away: 1.375 goals scored / 1.00 goals conceded

Odds tip: Lens will win3.15
