There are now only two rounds left before the teams in the Mizuno League take a well-deserved Christmas break. This weekend we have a total of eight matches to look forward to, four on the women's side and four on the men's side. And there are important matches both at the top and bottom.

OSI – can they turn the tide?

OSI got off to a fantastic start in the Mizuno League after they were back in good company, with a strong 3–0 win against Randaberg. After the opening, however, things have been a bit of a struggle. In the four following matches in the Mizuno League, OSI has had to recharge after four straight losses. And there will be a tough home match against Førde this weekend. For OSI to get something out of it, everyone in the team must contribute and Anders Clifford must continue to pick up points for OSI.

Førde – the wheels keep rolling?

We have to go back to November 8th to find Førde's last league match, a match that ended with a solid 3–0 win over TIF Viking at home. Since then, they have also secured a dramatic 3–2 win against Koll in the cup semi-final last weekend, after an intense five-set match that Førde won 18–16 at home in front of their own crowd.
Førde has a strong team and several players who contribute consistently with points. Olav Ingebrigtsen is averaging 15.4 points per game, while Endre Tvinde delivers a solid 32 percent efficiency in attack. And when they also have Martin Olimstad contributing in all phases of the game, Førde is in a very good period.

Match picture

Here I expect Førde to come out and take control early, with Martin Olimstad as a key factor offensively. OSI, on the other hand, will probably have to go all-in from the start and try to surprise to have a real chance. They will have to serve hard, play risky and hope that Førde gets a slow start to the match.

When it comes to the battle picture, I see two possible scenarios in practice:

  1. Førde gets going from the start, takes command and wins comfortably 3–0.
It is most likely that they will start the serve pressure and sideout game early.
  2. OSI succeeds at the start, keeps the pressure up and forces a more even match than the odds suggest.
In such a case, I imagine a match where Førde eventually pulls it off, but with more resistance – for example 3–1.

In any scenario, Førde should be the stronger team over time, and anything other than a win for the away team would be a big surprise. I am therefore betting on Førde taking this 3-0. I am running 2. units on this game considering the risk that OSI can take a set here.
