Two teams that were significantly higher in the table last year meet this Sunday. Newcastle have had a weak start to the season, because six points in six games is not enough. Just one win in the bank, and an offensive game that doesn't sit well. Alexander Isak is not easy to replace overnight. Nottingham was last year's big positive surprise. An incredibly difficult team to beat, and Wood delivered net skills on a par with the very best. But what happens then? Well, the owners and Santo are unable to work together anymore. The manager leaves, and the results disappear. As of now, Nottingham is floundering around at the bottom of the table, and it all peaked last weekend when they lost to Sunderland on their own turf. From heaven to hell. Basically, it's not nice to have to go up to Newcastle with a knife to the throat.

Newcastle – A glimmer of hope in the Champions League

Because this was another matter. They went to Belgium and won 4-0 over Royale Union SG, a team that you should beat in principle, but the execution itself was rock solid. In addition, the right people got on the scoresheet. Woltemade scored again, and so did Gordon and Barnes. Important cards up front, and important people when it comes to having self-confidence in the decisive moments. Goals create belief, and belief can move mountains. Newcastle are a bit there now. The results have to come if this is to look any brighter, and as of now it must be said that a home game against Nottingham comes reasonably conveniently.

Because Newcastle have a lot of quality. The midfield is not going to back down to anything, and the attack, at least now that Gordon is back, can create a furor in many a defense. The big German has also had a decent start to life in English football, and if you are a little lucky now, and get to play in a supposedly preferred eleven, then the ship can start to turn.

Not only do Newcastle face Nottingham at a good time, they also have a very good hold on Sunday's away team. The last three PL matches between the teams have ended in wins for the black and white stripes. This takes teams into these matches, and especially those players who have delivered well against the aforementioned opponent get an extra rocket behind them. There is much to suggest that Newcastle can get their second three points of the season on Sunday.

In the back row, you have to think a little differently. Livramento was injured in the last league match, and will be out until the end of November. Maybe Hall will soon be ready to play regularly again? The young Englishman showed proof of class last year, and can very well raise the back row for the home team.

Nottingham – Internal unrest creates difficult working conditions

The state of things can be summed up with Thursday's European match for Nottingham. They hosted Midtjylland, and ended up conceding three goals on their own turf, and then losing the match 2-3. I dare say that this had not happened last year. Nottingham were tight-lipped, and these even matches often ended in a home win. And the match against the Danes is not a one-off. They blew their heads and their asses out of the League Cup at the first hurdle against Swansea, and have suffered humiliating losses to both Sunderland and West Ham in the league. They couldn't even take care of Burnley. Nothing, absolutely nothing, is as it should be with last year's comet.

Nuno Espirito Santo is a character. He likes it his way, but he is also a charismatic and self-sacrificing type who leaves everything on the mat. And he managed it in Nottingham. There is no doubt that the results last year were his merit, and his presence and bottomless belief in his own project were contagious to the players. The team was ticking away, and the backroom jabs against Wood were almost impossible to stem. An adventure of a season, which could have easily ended with a Champions League ticket. But then you have owners, owners who have to make a mark, and who have to have it their own way. Santo went to the press and said that things were not as they should be, and called for activity in the player market. He wanted to invest, and he wanted to build on what he had created. It was too much to swallow for those who manage and look after, and just as quickly as he arrived, Santo was also shown the exit door. Now it's big Ange who has taken over the reins, and with that Nottingham is playing a completely different style of football. The high defensive line and the somewhat naive approach have so far not worked. The team is leaking.

Then it's not a good time to go up to Newcastle. Because it's going to be tough here. If Nottingham is high here, with a squad that hasn't quite mastered this yet, then this could be ugly. The losses have come in a row in recent weeks, and the goals are flowing in. Anyone think it will suddenly stop on Sunday?

Conclusion – The home team won't get a better opportunity

Here you have to secure three points. Nottingham concede two or three goals every time they step onto the pitch now, while Newcastle finally found their goals in Belgium. The feeling of net rush will carry over into the weekend, and Nottingham will be rewarded. In addition, Newcastle have an extra day of rest, as they played on Wednesday, while the away team played on Thursday. Not necessarily decisive in itself, but not favorable either.

A dominant H2H, a good home team, a weak away team with a new manager with new ideas, and a group of dizzy footballers for the latter. Everything speaks for Newcastle this Sunday, and we don't make more of it than we have to, this ends with a home win, and the home team scores more than one. Consider the risk against the potential payout if you want to make this even juicier. Good luck!
