A new weekend means a new top-flight clash in Serie A. The reigning champions, who have already consolidated their place in first place this season, travel to Milan to face the Rossoneri in the black-and-red part of the city. Two teams in form, two teams with blood on their teeth, and two charismatic winners on the sidelines: Antonio Conte and the returning Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri. Sunday's match has all the makings of a highlight.

AC Milan – A team that means business

After four straight wins in the league and cup, the contours of an AC Milan team that wants to fight at the top again are starting to be seen. Last season was marked by coach changes, dissatisfaction and weak performances, and the start of this year's season indicated more of the same when newly promoted Cremonese shocked with a 2-1 victory at San Siro.

Since then, the team has risen. Four consecutive games without a defeat are evidence of a defensive solidity that has been missing for a long time. New wing-backs Pervis Estupiñán and Alexis Saelemaekers have contributed strongly, both defensively and offensively. Saelemaekers in particular has shown that he can build on the strong season he had in Roma.

The new signings in midfield have also raised the bar. Luka Modric has taken control of the middle with experience and composure, showing why he was a key player for Real Madrid for more than a decade. Adrien Rabiot has strengthened the central midfield, while Christopher Nkunku has already opened the scoring and adds a new dimension to the attack.

With greater breadth in the squad and key players who can decide games on their own, Milan appear to be a more complete team than in a long time. The ambition is clear: to avenge a disappointing 8th place from last season.

Naples – The machine keeps rolling

The reigning champions have started the season as they finished the previous one – with a bang. Four wins in four attempts have given Napoli a grip on the top of the table. However, last weekend's 3-2 win against Pisa showed that the team is not invulnerable. The match against Milan will therefore be a real test, as their previous opponents have been clearly weaker on paper.

The Champions League opener against Manchester City was a reminder of the level of play in Europe. An early red card for captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo made the task impossible, and the 0–2 loss showed that Napoli still have room to work on internationally.

On the plus side, the Premier League reinforcements have delivered. Rasmus Højlund has found scoring form, Billy Gilmour got on the scoresheet against Pisa, and Kevin De Bruyne adds experience and quality that Milan will also have to deal with. A concern, however, is the injury to defender Alessandro Buongiorno, which weakens the defense ahead of a match where Milan will field several offensive weapons.

Offensively, Napoli have been effective with nine goals in four games, but defensively they have shown lapses. This makes the meeting with Milan's strong attacking line extra exciting.

Points that could define the season

This is a classic top-flight match where three points can be of great importance in the championship battle. Napoli have had the upper hand in recent meetings, but Milan come this time with new confidence, better breadth in the squad and a clear desire for revenge. It will be a duel between two different strategies: Napoli's offensive efficiency against Milan's newfound defensive stability.

The question is whether Napoli will once again prove superior, or whether Milan will be able to tip the balance of power in their favor. We will get the answer on Sunday evening.
