Malmö Redhawks – Frölunda HC

League leader Frølunda meets another team that has been doing well recently. Malmö has recently won 7 of the last 8 matches. So no doubt that there are two good teams meeting here. Frølunda has also been in absolutely superb form, and they now have 9 straight wins. What could that mean for this match? Let's take a look at what we think.

Malmö Redhawks - best period in a long time.

It's almost unbelievable how well this team is doing these days. Malmö wasn't expected to be in 5th place at this stage of the season. But they have found fantastic form. Could there be another reason than that they are simply a good team?.

We think they may have been a little lucky with their match schedule. We see that several of the victories have come against weaker opposition, and that in that sense they may have been lucky. But they have also probably built up a good dose of self-confidence during this period. We also saw that in the 2-5 away win against Vaxjø. The game before that, however, they lost 4-6 at home against Luleå. So they are swinging a bit.

But as I said, they have faced a lot of the bottom teams, and only the win against Vaxjø is a win against a team above them in the table. We think they will have a tougher time in this one.

Frölunda HC – Great series leader.

Have we really seen such a superb team in the SHL as Frølunda is this season. They lead the series with 14 points at this point, and they are in fantastic form. As we wrote at the beginning, they now have 9 wins in a row. They are ready for the semi-finals of the Champions League hockey, and superb league leaders. It is impressive.

They have also shown solid away form, and now have 5 straight away wins. It suits the team well that others will attack them, and we have seen them beat one good home team after another on away field. Most recently 2-5 away against Røgle. We think they will continue on the same track in this match.

The teams have met twice so far this season. Frølunda won both games. 6-1 away, and 3-0 at home. So they have a good handle on today's opponent.

Conclusion – The series leader should be better.

We think there should be a difference between these teams. Frølunda simply seems like a complete team these days. Since we think Malmö has been a bit lucky with the match schedule, we think the home team will have a tough time in this one.
