Last weekend wasn't a good weekend for us from Down Under. But we know we can, and that's why we're trying again. Because this weekend also offers treats, and while it smells of cards and corners elsewhere, we think it stinks of goals here in the south-west of Sydney. In Campbelltown, to be exact.

Macarthur Fc – Not as predictable as first thought

We were early to conclude that Macarthur would have to rely on long balls and crosses to his beacon, Harry Sawyer. And in the absence of creative wings, now that both Drew and Jakolis are kicking the ball elsewhere, it would be a tough season for The Bulls. And we were right that Harry Sawyer has his strength in the air, but we were sorely mistaken when we claimed that was all they had.

Because now that Dong-Wong Ji is acclimatized, he seems to have more strings to play up front than his tall partner. And with Duran and Grzan on either side, the elegant Caceres in the middle and Brattan in the engine room, Macarthur suddenly looks like a proper crew again. Because not many teams go home from Wellington with three points.

Because even though Wellington had their chances, Macarthur could have easily had more goals than they got. And it was the aforementioned Sawyer who came on, with only 15 minutes left, and decided the game in favour of the away team. And now that they have both a right-back and a left-back from Melbourne City in Talbot and Politidis, this team is looking really good.

Perth Glory – The points chase is on

Perth Glory recorded their first win of the season last weekend, and it was a lucky one. We had our money on Newcastle Jets, and the home team could have easily been 3-0 before half-time. Then our game would have been in the box. But in the away team's box, Brian Kaltak played great. The center-back, who came from Central Coast Mariners before the season, had several match-deciding involvements, and he will probably have a good day here if Perth is to copy last weekend.

Because here too we have adjusted our starting tip. Finally Perth seemed to be able to bite back. Finally, smart investments had been made. But no. The team looks as hopeless as in previous years. With the exception of the aforementioned Kaltak. Risdon, Wootton, Pennington and Wales were all players with experience from the A-League, but they are struggling to make their mark on the games. And we know that Adam Taggart is getting older with age. The experienced goalscorer has not scored since the opening of the series.

But it is primarily at the back that they fall short. And it doesn't help that Mark Birighitti was injured. The aging goalkeeper, with matches in both England and the Netherlands, was born in Perth and the plan was for him to come home as a savior. It's been a while.

Conclusion – we predict goals

It is not a bold claim to predict goals when Perth Glory is involved. The bookmakers have also seen what we have seen, and give barely 1.50 on 2.5 goals. But 10 goals behind in five games gives an average that we believe will be maintained here. Especially considering that the average is up to 2.5 goals behind away from home. Because it is a fact that Perth has a long journey to its away games. 3931km this time, to be exact.

But let's just say; Macarthur has only scored over 1.5 goals once so far this year. But we think we have seen a positive development offensively for the home team, and now that they have more strings to play on, and face a team that has great limitations defensively, we think there is good value in this game. Because the back four looked like a bunch of headless chickens at times against Newcastle Jets, and then they will have it at least as tough here. Therefore, we try the following bets;

Australia at 08:00: Macarthur Fc - Perth Glory: Over 1.5 goals to Macarthur Fc (1.65)

Alternative games:

Australia at 08:00: Macarthur Fc – Perth Glory: Macarthur to win + over 2.5 goals (2.39)
