It's getting closer to the end of the regular season in the SHL.

We will now head to the team that is located furthest north of all, Luleå Hockey, and to Coop Norrbotten Arena. The team has performed well all season, and is now in second place, 3 games to go.

A team from the other end, MoDo Hockey, is visiting, and has performed very poorly, and is second to last in the division. The team will most likely have to prepare for a playoff to avoid relegation.

Luleå HF – The door is ajar.

Luleå has delivered brilliantly lately, and has actually given itself a chance to capture 1st place. Now only the door is left a little ajar. This is because Brynas lost somewhat surprisingly at home last time, while Luleå impressed by beating Farjestad away. Luleå is 8 points behind Brynas with 9 points left to play for. Brynas has 3 tough matches left, and in that sense there may be a possibility of catching them on the run-up side.

Then a team like today's opponent must be beaten. If we look at what the team has performed for a period now, it is very good. 6 of the last 7 matches have been won. Several of these victories are against good opposition, and that really bodes well with this match in mind. The team seems to be well placed before the playoffs. We expect that they want to maintain their form, and at least as long as there is a possibility of taking a step up in the table. The team seems complete, and has no direct weaknesses. The only thing that has been a bit critical is the overall home form. This is the focus now before the playoffs begin, and we therefore believe that the team is using this to embellish those statistics.

The team scores the third most of all the teams in the division, and concedes the third fewest. These are statistics we like. It reminds us of a solid team. We have a lot of faith in this team against such an opponent.

MoDo Hockey – The form is disastrous.

Modo seem resigned, and when they lost the previous league match 1-3 at home to bottom team Hv71, we realized how bad things are. The team had the opportunity to play their way to a safe place before this match. But now it looks like the team will have to come up with a playoff to avoid relegation. It could be tough enough with the form this team is in.

The team has only 1 win in their last 8 games. Several of the losses have come against teams around them in the table. It simply looks as if the team has realized that this is going to be about the playoffs to avoid relegation.

We can clearly see what the biggest problem is. Because at the back of the field, this is the team that has conceded the most goals of all in the SHL. That's an average of 3.2 goals conceded per game. You don't win many hockey games with that. Up front, the team actually scores okay goals. But it doesn't help much when the team leaks like a sieve at the back. The loss at home against HV71 last time probably also has a psychological impact on this game. Because the team and the city had mobilized properly with a full hall, and an angle to save the place.

We think the last of the air may have gone out of this balloon now.

Conclusion – Two teams with different motivations.

Luleå, who have been given a small chance of winning the league title, probably have a much stronger motivation than their opponent MoDo here. Home field advantage, and quality speak for a series win for the home team in this one.

Let's look at previous matches between these teams from this season. All 3 have gone in favor of the home team. The only home game ended 3-0. We therefore think that we will go for a handicap bet in this one. It gives exciting odds, and we believe this is a real value bet.
