Lock – Pelicans 13-01-2026

Analysis Information
For the second week in a row we take a trip to the small town of Rauma in Finland. Where the home team Lukko plays its games. The 40,000 inhabitants of this town have been getting good value for their money lately. Because the home team is in good shape.
They are in a good 2nd place in the league before this match, and have shown stable form in recent matches with 5 wins in 6 matches.
This time they will face the bottom team Pelicans, who are in anything but good shape. The team has now lost their last 5 games and is currently in 15th place. This will give them a place in the playoffs to avoid relegation. This is also the same place they finished last year. So it is by no means a surprise.
We think Lukko will have a good chance in this match, and do exactly as in the previous match. Take care of one of the bottom teams at home. Let's take a look at why.
Lukko – another bottom layer will have to struggle.
As in the previous round when Lukko met Karpat at home, they will once again have to hone their skills against a bottom team at home. We think it will go well this time too. 4-1 was the last result in a solid home match. They took their opponent seriously. Which makes us confident that they will do the same in this one.
There are important points to fight for. Because it is close behind Tappara at the top of the table. A loss from or to could bring Lukko down to the qualifying place for the playoffs.
Lukko produces good goals. But they are perhaps most solid at the back of the field. We also saw that in the last match, when they only conceded one goal against. Against one of the teams that scores the most in the league. But the team that concedes the second fewest is actually today's opponent. So it could be more even than the table situation suggests.
We still have faith in the home team. As they have shown that they take these bottom teams seriously. They also lost the first match this year with 2-0 against the same opponent. But there was a period where they also played a lot in Europe. The last match which was as late as 27.12.2025, they won with 1-5. Where the shot statistics were a full 27-15 advantage Lukko.
At home, Lukko are also solid, and have 42 points in 18 games (15 wins 3 losses). Best in the league if you look at the number of games played. A whopping 62-34 in goal difference in these games. Super solid.
Pelicans – cruel forwards in the field
As I said, Pelicans are currently second to last in the Liiga. A place they are familiar with from last year. They are now in terrible form. With 5 losses in a row before this one, where 4 of the 5 losses have ended with more than one goal. That is why it is tempting to think in those terms.
First and foremost, it is up front that this team fails. They have only scored 70 goals in 36 games. Which is clearly the weakest of all the teams in the league. When they now meet the team that is the most difficult to score against of all, they will probably have a tough time.
With 45 points in 36 games so far, it's too poor a point capture if they want to get away from the bottom battle. 70-92 in goal difference tells us that the team scores too little. That's where it's lacking. The team is solid in the back, and that's probably the only reason we get playable odds on this game. There is an uncertainty there considering that the back is so good.
They also had a tough time the last time the teams met, with 5 goals conceded. Which shows that it is possible to score against this team. They have looked more disheveled lately. In four of the last five games they have conceded 4 goals or more. Which shows that they are weaker at the back of the field right now, than they have been earlier in the season.
Conclusion – the home team should be clearly the best
Here the home team will most likely have another positive experience. The team is in shape, and the Pelicans are the opposite. The last match as late as 27.12.2025, will show the current strength between these teams. As said, it ended with a victory for Lukko with a score of 1-5.
At home they also have support in the stands, and we think we can get a similar result. We therefore play a handicap bet to get the odds up. But it can be mentioned that there are nice 1.67 on a clean win as well, which is a slightly safer bet. Judge for yourself. But we believe that Lukko will hold on at home, and therefore play the following bet:
Hockey at 17:30: Lukko - Pelicans: Lukko wins -1.5 goals (2.11)
