Anfield is without a doubt one of the most infamous and scary places to play away football. Liverpool host their visitors here, and many teams have gone on a mental rampage before kick-off. You’ve probably heard of the twelfth man, but at Anfield you really get to see and hear the enormous impact the crowd has. The pressure from the stands, the intensity and the atmosphere make this a truly unique venue in the world of football.

An unpredictable season for Arne Slot and Liverpool

The season has been anything but stable for Arne Slot and his men. Ups have been followed by downs, and every match has come with a certain amount of suspense. Liverpool have looked very strong at times, only to fall in the next match. This unpredictability has made the matches extra nerve-wracking – for both supporters and opponents – because you never quite know which Liverpool will turn up.

At home at Anfield, Liverpool are always a different team

One thing is constant, though: when Liverpool play at Anfield, the games take on a life of their own. Even in periods of fluctuating form, the team often manages to raise the bar in front of their own fans. The pace picks up, the duels get tougher, and the opposition rarely gets a chance to play their game. This is where Liverpool often find that extra spark that can turn even matches in their favour.

Liverpool vs Newcastle – set for goals and chaos

After an entertaining thrashing of Qarabag, where Liverpool won 6–0, the home team has received a solid boost in self-confidence. However, this will not be an easy task. Newcastle have been anything but bad, and with key players available they can cause big problems – even at Anfield. The previous meeting between the teams is still fresh in the memory, with red cards and an extra-time goal that secured Liverpool a dramatic 3–2 victory.

Summary – Focus on goals at Anfield

Everything suggests that this will be an open and entertaining match, not a defensive and boring affair. Both teams to score at around 1.62 is certainly playable, but gives no guarantee against a Liverpool full of confidence. Over 1.5 goals to Liverpool pays better, and with home field advantage in mind I like this bet by far the best. Both bets can hit, but in my opinion the value lies with the home team.
