Glimt must win to keep the gold medal fight alive

Will Bodø/Glimt go for the famous banana peel in Oslo for the second away game in a row – or will they put a lot of pressure on Viking with a win tonight?
There are many indications that the league gold will be decided this weekend. If Glimt loses to KFUM, Viking can secure the gold on Sunday. If Glimt wins, however, the Siddis will be under tremendous mental pressure before the away game against Fredrikstad. It is set for a dramatic end to the season.

YMCA – Tough opponent on the "plain"

KFUM ends the season the same way they started – weakly. After an impressive period midway through the season, they have lost key players, and speculation surrounding Johannes Moesgaard's transfer to Molde has affected the team.

At Ekebergsletta, KFUM has nevertheless been a tough nut to crack for many top teams. The results vary widely: from solid points against strong teams to weaker performances such as a 1–1 draw against Kristiansund and a 1–4 loss at home against Haugesund.

In 10 of 14 home games, both teams have scored. After the summer break, all home games – except for one 0–0 game – have ended with goals for both teams. Everything indicates that this will not be a goalless draw.

Bodø/Glimt – Long-awaited breather

No Norwegian team has had as tight a match schedule as Bodø/Glimt this fall, and the international break came long awaited. They now play with fresher legs and clearer heads.

The performances in the Champions League have been good, but without the payoff Glimt would have wanted. In the Eliteserien they stumbled against Vålerenga in their previous visit to Oslo, which means that they now enter the final sprint as the challenger – not the leader.

The priority going forward should be clear: league gold means a direct Champions League spot, and Glimt will give it their all tonight.

On the away field, Glimt has delivered goals galore: in ten matches both teams have scored. The only times they have kept a clean sheet have been against teams of significantly weaker calibre (Bryne, Haugesund, Fredrikstad and Strømsgodset).

This is a must-win game for Glimt. If Viking loses, the series could be decided on Sunday.

Conclusion – the match Glimt must win

Everything is in place for an offensive Glimt edition. With the league gold in the pot, the northerners will attack the match in their characteristic way: high tempo, powerful pressure and many finishes.

The fact that the match is played two days before Viking could be an advantage for Glimt. They only need to focus on themselves – no other results are in play yet.

I expect a hungry Glimt team to take control and win comfortably. The goal picture also points to a goal-rich match.
