Analysis of:
HamKam – Viking 21-04-2025

Analysis Information
HamKam is ready for its second home game of the year, and this time it is medal contender Viking who will visit Briskeby Stadium. The home team has only played one home game this season, and it ended with a somewhat undeserved victory against Kristiansund.
While Viking have only played one away game so far this year, which they lost 3-1 against Vålerenga. There they had a player sent off early, and even though they dominated Xg in that game, it ended in a loss. It will therefore be exciting to see how this game ends. We can almost certainly expect a game with many goals.
There are historically many goals between these teams, and last year the same match ended 3-3.
HamKam – A tough team to beat at Briskeby.
HamKam is a team that has gained experience in doing just enough to stay in the division. The last three seasons, they have finished between 11th and 13th place. Just safe enough to avoid the relegation battle. We think they may be able to do that this season as well. But then they are dependent on points at home. Even though they win few games at home, they are so difficult to beat at home that they lose fewer games than they take points in.
That makes us a little skeptical about playing a clean away win against today's opponent. As this is a place where several teams struggle to take all the points home. Last year, for example, the team had 4-4-7 with a goal difference of 15-17 during their 15 home games. It tells of a cynical team that primarily goes for points. Considering that Viking played 3-3 here last year, they scored a good percentage of the goals here. It fits into the goal-rich statistics between these teams.
It was even written about on HamKam's own website ahead of this match. Matches in the 2000s between these teams have resulted in 53 goals in 16 matches. That is an average of 3.3 goals per match. We like that. Hamar scored 2 in the first home match against a weak Kristiansund. With an Xg of 2.1, they were simply more effective than their opponent in that match. For us who watched the match, the match picture felt the opposite, and you feel HamKam got a lot out of that match.
They face tougher opposition here, and it could quickly become more difficult to score goals in this one. We think we may have to trust our opponent here.
Viking – A team with two faces.
What can we say about Viking so far this season. It's certainly not easy. From the completely mediocre, to the completely brilliant. They started away against newly promoted Vålerenga. A match that was ruined by an early red card from Roseth. Even though Viking equalized after the sending off, this marked the match, and Vålerenga ran away with the victory. Viking still gave it a chance, and in the end had better Xg than Enga. But were not effective enough.
Everything was therefore to be corrected with a good home match against KFUM. But the first half was a disaster, and it was 1-1 after 45 minutes. The second half, however, resembled what many Vikings had imagined this year, and they eventually won 3-1. There was therefore extra focus on not falling behind when Kristiansund came to visit in the 16th round of the series. (Yes, you read that right, as this was an accelerated match). But once again, Viking fell behind against a supposedly weaker team, and was down 0-1 at halftime. Once again, we get to see the potential of Viking, and they win again 3-1 after a good second half.
When this team starts playing 90 minutes it could really be good. What we see is that the team is creating chances, and they have already scored 7 goals in 3 games. That gives an average of 2.33. This is a team that wants to come forward and attack. We appreciate that. We like teams that are predictable. Viking seems to be such a team this year. They don't stop attacking. We think that can take them far. We are tempted by a game that is based on over 1.5 goals for Viking. It is a game that seems very tempting. Both in terms of the opponent, but also the way the team wants to attack.
There is only 1 thing that makes us a little unsure. That is that Zlatko Tripic is uncertain for this match. We are writing the analysis early, and have to take into account a number of things at a much earlier time than many who follow the tips. But it is rumored that he will most likely be ready.
Here, those who follow can perhaps check the kickoff a little closer before they decide. Because there is no doubt that this player is important for Viking. Pretty much everything goes through this player offensively, and he is without a doubt the most creative force this team has.
Conclusion – Viking should be among the top.
We assume that Tripic plays, and then there should be enough offensive power in this Viking team to score more goals on this HamKam team. HamKam lost 3-0 to a Glimt that played at half speed in the previous series round. Which shows that the team can concede goals.
Historically, there are also goals between these teams, and that supports the game we are thinking of suggesting. For a Viking that scores a lot of goals, but also concedes some easy goals against weaker opposition, will soon be dependent on scoring more than one goal here to win. This is where we see the best game. We also saw last year that this Ham Kam team can be difficult to beat here at home when it ended 3-3. So we don't dare to play a pure Viking victory, but get good odds on the following game.
