Analysis Information
Haugesund is the venue for the main match of this round, when the home team welcomes Rosenborg at Haugesund Stadium. As usual, this is one of the biggest matches of the year, when the Trøndelag team comes to visit. Because even though it has been a long time since Rosenborg had its heyday, this is a team that draws the crowd, and everyone still loves to beat. Haugesund has had a terrible season so far, although they are now showing some improvement. But Rosenborg has also delivered weaker than they had hoped before the season. So where do we stand before this match. Let's take a look.
FK Haugesund – signs of improvement
The worst Eliteserie team in history is fighting a fierce battle to avoid going down in history. And finally, there are signs of improvement. At least offensively. A win against Sarpsborg 08 was one thing, but two goals against VIF and two more goals against FFK were almost as gratifying. After all, the team from Western Norway has barely scored a goal this year. But why is it only now that things are starting to unravel?
This could be due to several things. One reason is injuries to key players. Espejord is still injured, but Claus Niyukuri is finally back, and he is actually so good that he could have joined most teams in the Eliteserien. His physique is unlike anything else in Norway, and his offensive contribution from the back position has been directly decisive. But Claus is not alone in setting fire to the right side of today's home team. Pyry Hannola has also been brilliant after coming from SJK. Three games and two assists say a lot, when the team he plays for had scored five goals in the previous 17 games.
Otherwise, it will be interesting to see how Fk Haugesund copes without their captain; Bruno Leite. For some reason he started on the bench last, but came on and got a yellow card. Thus, he has reached the limit. Again. Bizoza will probably get renewed confidence, and in a match where they will probably have to run a lot between them, he could easily be a useful soldier. But I am a little more skeptical about the youngster by his side. Almar Grindhaug has taken steps this year, after he was thrown to the wolves, but he is clearly best when he has the ball at his feet. He is fearless, but unfinished.
It now appears that Einar Fauskanger has finally found a permanent place, after a record amount of turmoil. Three goalkeepers have been tried out, and this week they also brought home a fourth. Frank Stople, a goalkeeper veteran with a past in Fk Haugesund, is obviously intended for a place on the bench. But there are many indications that Fischer has regained his stopper spot along with Dia, and that Hammalainen and Niyukuri will take the back spots. That's the best the home team can do. But is it good enough?
Rosenborg BK – a match they must win
Rosenborg is out of Europe, and must focus fully on their domestic league from now on. The team is currently 6 points behind their goal for the season, with one game to spare. Rosenborg must finish at least in the top 4 to be sure of a European Cup game next season. It will be a very exciting run-in. There are now 10 points separating Molde in 10th place from Brann in 3rd place, with a third of the season left to play. In that sense, this match is a "must win" match for Rosenborg.
We're not saying it will be easy. But Rosenborg should be the better team of these two. But we still don't think victory will come that easily. Rosenborg has struggled away from home this season, and will have to step up their game even against such an opponent.
We envision a match where Rosenborg will dominate, and wise to not necessarily take their foot off the gas if they were to lead. It has happened a little too often this season, that you have to try to secure a victory. They are clearly best when they attack, and the old saying that attack is the best defense, will probably be in the tactical approach to this match.
What is most exciting is that Rosenborg could soon look more dangerous from two sides again. Because the team has struggled after Broholm left the right side. Usually, the matches have only been attacked from one side, which has been a bit predictable for the opponents. But Rosenborg has made reinforcements. David Duris has come in. He now returns from the international break full of confidence, after starting both matches that ended in victory against Germany and Luxembourg. Could they have shot the golden bird here? He will anyway help Ceide get better working conditions on the other wing, who together with Pereira has been a threat all season on the left side. If Witry and Duris find something of the same, it could be very fun for Isalmovic going forward. With supplies from two offensive sides, the goal average from the last period will most likely continue, and perhaps increase.
With this match picture, we may think we have found the right bet for this match. Let's conclude.
Conclusion – one team attacks, and one team counters
As I said, Haugesund has looked much better in recent games, and can easily pose a threat to Rosenborg. We believe that Rosenborg will attack anyway, and that it will quickly happen on the wings. We think that can generate a number of corners, and we feel that a game in that direction is relevant. Should Haugesund also score, and perhaps try to defend something, the pressure will not be any less, and corners will soon be taken.
We feel like trying a bet on this. We get good odds on corners for the away team, and try the following bets:
Eliteserien at 19:15: FK Haugesund – Rosenborg BK: Rosenborg BK over 6.5 corners (1.95)
