Analysis Information
We have reached the semi-finals of the Women's European Championship. Here, reigning champions England face a solid Italy. England have been a bit shabby, and were in danger of being eliminated by Sweden for a long time. But a strong finish took them to a penalty shootout that will go down in history as one of the worst in history.
But now that they have progressed, they must definitely be counted on as one of the teams that will go all the way to the final. England will definitely be better than Italy.
An Italy that beat Norway in a quarter-final with the score 2-1. A match in which Norway once again did not impress. Nevertheless, the match lived until the end, and Italy decided just before the end. But before we conclude completely. Let's take a look at the teams.
England – The journey of a champion team.
England have had a bit of a strange championship so far. They put themselves in a difficult position from the start, when they lost to France. But impressed in their next two matches. Where they swept the Netherlands and Wales. But against Sweden they got the expected resistance. But like many champion teams have done before, they somehow made it through, and they can still be a contender for the title.
One thing you can say about this team is that they have goals in them. We saw that last time when they were struggling against Sweden. Then it was the substitutes who came in and contributed to the victory in the end. That is exactly what we believe in this match. Because Italy should be a few notches below Sweden in quality, and against teams that are not as dangerous on the counterattack as Sweden, the attacks and pressure will probably be higher up the pitch.
They have creative people on the sides, and good people to shoot from outside the box. As well as strong people to finish in the area. Only Spain matches the offensive power that England has. We will try to exploit this.
Italy – Here but no further.
There is no doubt that Italy and Norway were the teams that could be most pleased with their quarter-final performances. In fact, both teams here would have been able to advance from this match.
That probably says a lot, considering that Norway has performed so poorly. Norway missed a penalty, while Italy scored the winning goal right at the end. This quality simply won't hold up against the kind of opponent they now face. This probably won't be the final, but the team should be happy to have made it this far anyway. The best position in several years for Italy.
Looking at player against player in this match, we believe that England have the best players in all positions. None of the players in Italy have made it into the England team. That also says a bit about the balance of power.
But Italy's strength has been effort and solid defense. They also led against Spain. But the match still ended 1-3 in favor of Spain. They simply couldn't resist when they were pressured. We think they can also struggle with that here.
Conclusion – England will attack.
Here we don't think England will give up at the gates. We are sure they will take control of the game with high ball-winning pressure. They will not feel the same risk as against Sweden.
Italy is nowhere near as strong on the counter as Sweden. This means that England's full-backs, who were a bit weak against Sweden, will probably contribute more going forward, as they did against the Netherlands and Wales. We are confident that England will win, and in that respect a bet at 1.50 could certainly be tempting for many.
We think it's a bit too tight, and have found another bet that tempts us. We are almost as sure that England will score at least two goals. They have done so in all of their last 3 matches. We think they can easily score more than that, so we'll play it safe and try the following bet:
Football at 21:00: England – Italy: England over 2 goals asian (2.29)
