Analysis Information
It's been over a month since the beach volleyball circus visited Brazil for the first two Elite16 tournaments of the season. Now the world elite has moved on to Europe, and the next stop is Ostrava in the Czech Republic. Here, the top players gather again to compete in one of the tour's most unique arenas - in the middle of an old industrial area. The raw, urban setting gives the tournament a very special atmosphere that both players and the audience love. The qualification to get into the main round is May 28. The main tournament starts on May 29.

Top three favorites to win Elite16 Ostrava
- Anders Mol/Christian Sørum (Norway)
Anders Mol/Christian Sørum with their experience and not least that they have strong blocks, defense and precise serving technique always make them big favorites to win the Elite 16 tournament this weekend. Always favorites when they show up! - David Ahman/Jonatan Hellving (Svergie)
In Brazil we saw Hellvig struggling with an injured left thumb. It will be exciting to see how well the thumb has healed for the tournament in Ostrava. We will probably see it on the block if the thumb is not quite one hundred percent. Then Hellvig will probably hold back a little in the block game, which will be a significant weakness for the Swedish pair. However, expect David Ahman/Jonatan Hellving to keep up with their fast playing style and strong communication on the court. Their trademark is the unpredictable attack on the second stroke – a tactic that puts the opponents' blocking and defense systems to serious tests. - Stefan Boermans/Yorick De Groot (Netherlands)
The strength of Stefan Boermans/Yorick De Groot is their strong blocking game and ability to read their opponents' game making them a team to be reckoned with in upcoming competitions.
Top three contenders in Elite 16 Brasília
- Evandro / Arthur Lanci (Brazil)
They play with a passion and energy that we recognize from other Brazilian athletes. On the beach volleyball court they show real passion when everything goes their way, but during a match we also get to see their weaker sides – especially in receiving situations, where they sometimes just stare at each other like big question marks. Overall, however, they are almost unstoppable when they play with full passion and energy like we saw in Brazil a month ago. Can they replicate these performances when we get to Europe? - Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler (Germany)
With solid experience on the sand, combined with powerful blocking and a robust defense, they appear to be a team no one takes lightly. Can they turn around the bad start they had in Brazil? If they have found the form from the Paris Olympics, they are definitely a contender to follow closely in the upcoming tournaments. - Hendrik Mol/Mathias Berntsen (Norway)
Mol and Berntsen have delivered strong results on the international stage over time, which has given them direct entry into the main round of this year's Elite16 tournaments. With stable form and a high base level, the duo has established themselves as a solid part of the regular starting field in the Elite16 circus in 2025.
