The time has finally come! The big highlight of the tennis season, where the elite gather – both on and off the court, the dress code is strict – and the prize is a name in the history books.

Because who doesn't dream of being mentioned in the same breath as Bjørn Borg, Roger Federer, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, Novak Djokovic – or the hothead and legend John McEnroe?

Wimbledon is tennis's answer to the Oscars; yes, it's cool to win Best Actor, or Best Director – but it's the actual Oscar statuette you want. You want to stand on top of the podium at the end and receive the honors and glory, and be hailed as the best.

Monday 30-06 it starts, the first round of Wimbledon 2025. Some call it the third qualifying round – but here it is in full swing with 5 sets. We take a closer look at Brooksby – Griekspoor:

Tallon Griekspoor:

Griekspoor has a playing style that is particularly well suited to grass; He has a huge serve, and that means a first serve that averages 210 km/h, is solid at the net – and he has a rock-solid forehand. All in all, he is very well equipped for grass tennis. He plays hard and fast – this is supported by 4/4 so far in the grass season, and all matches in straight sets. In my eyes, Griekspoor does not have any very obvious weaknesses, but as always there is a but; the duck reserve is not particularly fearsome, he does not move very well – and is perhaps not the best at handling pressure?

Jenson Brooksby:

Brooksby – a personal favorite. At his best, he can cause trouble for anyone. But when his unorthodox playing style doesn't work, he can be knocked off the court. Brooksby was completely out of the tennis world for two years, before making his comeback in January of this year.

It's a bit difficult to define what makes Brooksby so good, without going into the technical aspects of tennis. Because he's good, very good, before he got injured and had to serve a suspension for failing a doping test – he was ranked number 33 in the world. Now, two years later, he's number 149, but on the rise.

So what can he offer? He is an incredibly good defensive tennis player, but that is a bit of a misleading expression in Norwegian – because it does not mean that he is only able to jump up and return difficult balls, a good defensive game in tennis is also about counter-attacks and partly dictating the course of the game. If you stand there and "push" the ball back and forth with Brooksby, there is a good chance that you will lose the duel, because the person standing on the other side of the net is dependent on putting power into the strokes and hitting out against the lines to overcome Brooksby.

There is also this secret superpower of Brooksby, that he is on the spectrum. I went into more depth on that in my previous analysis – so here we will just mention that he handles pressure in a very unique way. He manages to focus 100% on what he has to do, even if he is under 15-40 and has match ball against him. He is not taken by the pressure.

Conclusion:

If you don't go into depth on Brooksby, it's quite natural that Griekspoor is the clear favorite here, and most likely to win in straight sets. But if you want to find value in odds, you have to look; and here I have found it easy.

My prediction is that Griekspoor will have problems with Brooksby's solid defensive game, he will get frustrated and he will hit a lot of unforced errors. And it's not that Brooksby doesn't have strengths, even though he is considered a defensive player; he has an unorthodox but very precise two-handed backhand - and he can both hit winners and offer serve aces. But it should also be mentioned that Brooksby's duck reserve is not much to shout about.
