Analysis of:
Bodo Glimt – Tottenham 30-09-2025
Analysis Information
You'll be hard-pressed to find a more exciting match, especially for us Norwegians who have finally got a foot in the Champions League after many years of waiting.
The freezing temperatures are already making their mark on the morning commute, and Bodø is no exception. The weather is getting colder, but for Norway's new heroes this is a matter of habit. Flight tickets from London have been booked, and bubble jackets are packed – they must be prepared for the big match that will take place at Europe's scariest stadium, Aspmyra.
Bodø/Glimt – Vikings with adrenaline for breakfast
Kjetil Knutsen has really achieved something big. With one foot in the Champions League, the team has nothing to lose. Every duel won and every goal scored is a great achievement for the small team that has fought its way up through the divisions in recent years. Who would have thought that an elite league team would be able to make it all the way to the biggest stage in European football?
After landing back on Earth after the overtime drama in Prague, it's the yellow-clad Vikings who will welcome the guests from England. With home field advantage, it's just a matter of counting down the hours until kick-off - this is going to be exciting.
There are few teams that don't feel a chill creeping down their spine when they are told they will face Bodø/Glimt at Aspmyra. Snow, cold, bad weather, artificial turf and supporters with a glimmer in their hearts are many good reasons why you as an away team should fear the yellow-clad team. It wouldn't be the first time a big team has gone down in small Norway.
Apart from the insignificant match in the return match against Sturm Graz, Knutsen's men have not lost in 17 matches. They are now 3-2-0 in their last five, including the meeting with Sparta Prague. The team has few injuries that affect the team significantly, and both Patrick Berg and Kasper Høgh are ready to fight again after minor complaints in recent weeks.
Usually Glimt have gone out for a hundred at home and calmed down away in Europe, but there is much to suggest that this is history. They have become more experienced defensively than before, and it is not inconceivable that they will plan a solid defense and counterattacks against Tottenham. Nevertheless, I think they will exploit the Aspmyra advantage and go for three points against a Tottenham that fluctuates in form in England.
Keeping a clean sheet can be difficult, even at home. I therefore think we will see an aggressive pressure from Glimt in the hope of scoring more goals than they concede. They have to take points at home considering which teams they will face later. At the same time, it opens up dangerous counterattacks from the visitors, which Knutsen will have to have a good plan to handle.
Bodø/Glimt love possession, and they have shown they can do it even against the big European clubs. This often results in many corners and set pieces, something captain Patrick Berg is very important for – both as a cross-footer and leader. It helps of course to have super striker Kasper Høgh in place, who scores goals on demand.
Glimt are currently the underdogs, but a point at home is a golden opportunity. They will give everything to prevent the British from returning home with three points.
Tottenham - experience trumps match form
It has been a troubled start for Thomas Frank and his Tottenham, but they have still managed to stay at the top of the Premier League. In recent games, they have sharpened their form and are now 3-1-1 in their last five. This suggests brighter times, but can Aspmyra be a stop?
This is the third time Tottenham have met Glimt, and the second time they have played in Bodø. Both previous meetings ended in two-goal wins for the London team. I have a feeling they are set to use their experience in important matches once again, and put Kjetil Knutsen and his men in their place.
The visitors will probably try to control the game from the start and contain Glimt's high pressure and recovery play. It could be difficult, but Tottenham are good enough to do it if they are sharp. They will also have to be clinical when playing through Glimt's defense - then they can puncture the game early and kill the home team's hopes of a point.
On paper, there should be a clear difference between the top level of the Premier League and the Eliteserien. But those of us who follow football closely know that practice does not always match up to paper. When you mix nerves, artificial turf, weather conditions and crowd pressure, anything can happen.
Tottenham is also not fielding an injury-free squad, and this could be decisive in whether they take three points or have to settle for a draw.
Game selection – conclusion
We will have an exciting and open match at Aspmyra tonight, and few dare to claim that they have the answer. Nevertheless, I will try my hand at a prediction: The offensive strengths of both teams trump the defenses. I think both teams will score, and preferably early. That makes me imagine a match with over 2.5 goals and scores from both teams.
I don't dare to predict the outcome in the form of 1X2, as the match is open, but I believe both teams will score and that we will get over 2.5 goals in total.
Corners could also be interesting, but the odds are not out yet. The home team often earns many corners through their wing play, so it is definitely something to keep an eye on.
After considering everything, I land on this as my main bet:
Champions League at 21:00 – Bodø/Glimt – Tottenham: Over 2.5 goals + Both teams to score (1.79)
