Wimbledon final 2025

This year's Wimbledon women's final is between Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek. Swiatek enters the match as the favorite - the Polish star is aiming for her first Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam triumph. For American Anisimova, it is the first Grand Slam final of her career, a highlight of her impressive comeback this season. On paper, Swiatek has the heavier credentials, but Anisimova has shown brilliant form on grass and is ready to challenge. In other words, it is set for a very exciting final duel.

Amanda Anisimova

Amanda Anisimova has really blossomed on grass this year, and her Wimbledon week has shown that. She opened the tournament with a crushing 6–0, 6–0 win in the first round, then battled through several three-set matches before culminating in a sensational semi-final triumph over world number one Aryna Sabalenka, proving that she can perform under pressure against even the biggest names.

Her playing style is fearless and aggressive. Anisimova possesses one of the best backhanders on the WTA Tour – a flat, hard-hitting shot that can often decide rallies. She likes to take the ball early and dictate the baseline play with high risk. The downside is that this occasionally leads to periods of unpressing errors when the timing is not right. So far in the tournament, she has kept her cool and dared to hit winners at critical moments. The question is whether she can maintain the same composure in the biggest match of her career, where nerves can quickly take over.

Anisimova also made a mark before Wimbledon with a final appearance in a warm-up tournament on grass, which underlines that she thrives on the surface. With her offensive playing style and self-confidence behind her, Anisimova appears as an outsider with real possibilities.

Iga Swiatek

For Iga Swiatek, Wimbledon 2025 has been a long-awaited breakthrough on grass. Expectations were low beforehand – she came to London without any titles this year and with a quarter-final as her best Wimbledon result. However, Swiatek has found great form: She has cruised through the tournament with just one set lost and outclassed Belinda Bencic 6–2, 6–0 in the semi-finals.

The Pole's game combines power and precision. Her forehand with heavy topspin is a fearsome weapon that can overwhelm an opponent when hit well. In addition, she has served brilliantly - Swiatek has only been broken six times in six matches and wins over 70% of the points behind her first serve. This makes her very difficult to control once she takes the initiative. She has also become noticeably more agile in her movements on grass, which further complicates attempts to control her. On top of all this, Swiatek has a clear advantage in experience: she already has five Grand Slam titles and has never lost a Slam final. This winning experience could prove important when it really counts.

Mutual settlement

Anisimova and Swiatek have never met in a WTA tournament before, so the final will be a completely fresh duel. Looking at the types of players, both have certain advantages in this match. Swiatek does not like to be deprived of time in duels, so Anisimova's aggressive pace could be an effective weapon. Conversely, Anisimova is not as comfortable when she is pressed into the corners, which Swiatek will try to exploit with her sharp angles and quick footwork. Whoever manages to dictate the points first will have a clear advantage.

Incidentally, Anisimova has had to fight hard in several matches along the way – three of her wins have come in decisive sets – while Swiatek has barely been properly tested so far. Whether that will be decisive in the final, either by Anisimova's fighting form giving her an advantage or Swiatek benefiting from fresher legs, remains to be seen.

Conclusion

Iga Swiatek has dominated the tournament and is the favorite for good reason. Nevertheless, both players will be fighting desperately for the biggest triumph of their careers, and everything points to an entertaining match where the margins could be small. Anisimova has impressed greatly and certainly has the tools to make the final even. We predict a tough battle for the favorite, and therefore we play;
