Analysis Information
We are going to Hovet Arena in Stockholm. For what could be a historic evening when AIK takes on Østersund IK for the tenth home game. A packed hall is expected, despite the fact that it is one of the better teams taking on the very weakest. AIK has the opportunity to set a record this evening. They could become the first team in Hockeyallsvenskan to win 17 games in a row. They approached the record in the previous round, and have put themselves in a perfect situation to do so.
Something we are absolutely sure they can do!
AIK – The team above anyone.
AIK has been the clear best team in Hockeyallsvenskan for a long time. They started the season relatively weakly, and are therefore no higher than 6th place in the league. However, it is within the goal of being among the teams that qualify directly for the playoffs (top 6). After the previous match, they got a long-awaited break down the table when they beat league leader Karlskoga away. It has also given them the chance to set a record for the number of consecutive wins in Hockeyallsvenskan throughout history.
They are now tied with 16, and are tied with two other teams who have done it before. But no one has done 17. We have great faith that it will happen, when they now face the worst team of all in this match.
The highlights have been in line for AIK lately. The club swept arch-rival Djurgården a few weeks ago. They have since celebrated their 134th anniversary with a victory at home, and in addition beat the league leader away. Things are simply flowing well for the team. The team scores well with goals, and concedes little. 150-117 in goal difference so far. These are often things we look for.
They have also secured a playoff spot, and can actually think that they can climb a few spots higher with an equally good finish to the season. That would give them better chances to succeed in the playoffs.
The match here is hyped up, and you can now buy tickets for the "clap" for 17 kroner each, or for 117 in the hall. So no doubt that they want this record of 17 straight. The motivation will probably be right up there.
Østersund IK – The team must concentrate on avoiding relegation.
After the last round and another loss, it looks dark for Østersund to avoid the relegation play-offs. We believe the team is aiming for this now. Here in the future it will be important to avoid injuries, so they can be as strong as possible when they get there.
We think it will soon be a bit of a let-up, and that there may be some ugly losses for a while to come. The team is last, and has nothing to lose by making sure that the players stay injury-free. They will still be up against the best this division has to offer. The lack of form in the hunt for points will be too much for this team. Who now has 8 straight losses. The goal difference also says a lot, 85-156. A team that scores very little, and concedes a lot.
There can't possibly be much confidence here before this match. Away the team has only taken 11 points in 24 matches. Weakest of all there too. We know this team is going to lose this one.
But we have to find the right game.
Conclusion – Home team wins by more goals
A strong home team against the weakest away team of all, should provide opportunities for a good handicap game. Even though Østersund beat AIK 3-2 20 games ago, we don't think that can happen now. Since then, AIK has only one overtime loss against Bjørkløven. Otherwise only wins.
Earlier this season, AIK won the other two matches. 4-1 and 2-1. But we have to remember that all of these were before they found the form they are in now. AIK also had an extra day of rest before this match, which is certainly an advantage in this tight match schedule.
In what looks to be a packed hall, and the hunt for the record, we believe the home team will sweep the away team in this one. We therefore play the following bets.
Hockey at 19:00: AIK – Østersund IK: AIK wins – 2.5 goals (2.02)
